Hazel L. Dixon

dixon-obit-colorFuneral services for Hazel Dixon, 94, formerly of Sullivan, was at noon on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Eaton Funeral Home, 347 North Clark, Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Ryan Martin officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Hazel Lorene Ray was born July 27, 1922 in Salem, MO, the daughter of Frank and Rhoda (Petty) Ray.  She grew up and attended school in Salem. Hazel married John Yerkey and to this union her daughter, Cheryll was born. They resided in the Overland area for many years and then eventually moved to University City where she worked at the Clayton Juvenile Detention Center as cook for several years. Hazel lived in the Sullivan area and was active with the Rebecca’s during that time. She was also a member of the Faith Assembly of God in Sullivan. She moved to the Green Park Nursing Home in St. Louis in 2014.

Hazel loved reading and crocheting. She was a good hearted person who enjoyed helping others.

She passed away Monday, October 3, 2016.

Hazel is survived by her daughter; Cheryll Kwiatkowski of Imperial, MO, her grandson; James Kwiatkowski of Imperial, three sisters; Carol Haffner of Maryland Heights, MO, Ruth Williams of Fort Meyers, FL, Betty Tandecky of Decatur, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; Frank and Rhoda (Petty) Ray, one brother; Ralph Ray and two sisters; Nita Sexton and Dorothy Carey.
