Walter E. Adams, of Bourbon, MO, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at the age of 94 years.
Walter was born on August 24, 1921 to the late Alexander and Bertha Summers Adams in Hinch, MO. At the age of 21, Walter enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country from October 1942 until October 1945. On February 1, 1946, he was united in marriage to the love of life, Evelyn West at Bourbon, MO and three children were born to their marriage, Jimmie Lee, Carolyn Ann and Patricia Ann. Walter and Evelyn had recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Mr. Adams was employed by the Post Office and Paramount Cap after his service to his country. He worked for the Bourbon School system as a maintenance man and retired from there after many years of service. Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially bird hunting and taking vacations. He was a member of the American Legion Post #81 of Bourbon, MO and a dedicated member of First Southern Baptist Church in Leasburg, MO.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Adams nee West of Bourbon, MO; one son, Jimmie Adams and wife Kathy of Marshall, MO; two daughters, Carolyn Talbot of Springfield, MO, Patricia Pennock and husband Mike of Bourbon, MO; sister-in-law, Leonora Adams of Bourbon, MO; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Along with his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by one brother; Richard Adams, one sister; Nellie Bacon and husband Ross, a sister in infancy, a son in law; Roger Talbot, brother in law; Walter West and wife Eleanora, sisters in law; Virginia Ransom and husband Richard and Nadine Byrd Waisner and brothers in law, Claude Byrd and Roland Waisner.
A Memorial service was conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at First Southern Baptist Church, Leasburg, MO with Pastor Terry King officiating with Full Military Honors to follow. Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project are appreciated in memory of Walter Adams.
All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
