Through the thirty years Don was employed by Chrysler he had periods of layoffs and it was during one of those times that he drove a bus for Mid America Coaches, which he thoroughly enjoyed. It was during a model change lay off that Don went to a technical school to learn the auto mechanics trade. In addition to his full time job, Don, with Ione’s help, worked hard at home, raising cattle, hay and crops. He was never idle and was up early each day to keep up everything. He was truly an outdoorsman and loved to go hunting and fishing, especially when Ione went with him. Gardening was another of his hobbies. Don was a kind and compassionate man that never had a cross word for anyone. He was happiest when spending time with his family and many wonderful memories have been created.
