Oran Brewer of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at John Cochran Veterans Hospital at the age of 86 years.
Mr. Brewer was born in Sullivan and was a life-long resident of the area. He was a letter carrier for nearly 40 years before retiring. He honorably served his country during the Korean War with the United State Marine Corps attaining the rank of Sargent. He participated in action against the enemy in Korea; the assault and seizure of Inchon, the capture and securing of Seoul, participated in the Wonsan-Hungnam Campaign in North Korea, from October 26, 1950 to December 12, 1950 and participated in many other operations against enemy forces in South and Central Korea. Mr. Brewer was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a Good Conduct medal. He was a life-time member of the Russell Schmidt VFW Post 3987 of Sullivan and Sullivan Lodge No. 69 AF&AM. He enjoyed gardening and was known as the perfect gardener. He also enjoyed raised beagles and coon hounds.
He is survived by one son, Kelly Brewer of Pacific, MO, one daughter, Cheryl Archuleta of Ogden, UT, two sisters, Lois Koch of Sullivan and Joyce Bassford of the state of PA, two grandchildren, Zachary Miller and Darcy Young, two great grandchildren, Noah and Hollis Young, other relatives and friends.
Memorial graveside services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Wed., Nov. 11, 2015 with full Military Honors at I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
