Edith C. Yates of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 87 years, four months and 21 days.
Edith was born on June 18, 1928 near Potosi, MO to the late Elmer and Edith (Richardson) Stroupe. She was raised in various places around parts of Missouri and had also worked at various jobs where ever she had made her home. In 1940, she was married to John Yates who proceeded her in death in April of 1982. Her main devotion was to her husband and children. She also enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.
She is survived by 11 children; Frank Yates and wife Darla, Thomas Yates and wife Denise, Jim Yates and wife Laurie, Jerry Yates, Ida Reed, Norma Stroub, Melba Idress, Judy Paul and husband Rob, Mark Yates and Sherry, Casey Yates and wife Amy, and Milford Yates; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Along with her husband, Edith was preceded in death by five children; Johnny, Linda, Loran, Clifford and Eugene Yates.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. Visitation for Mrs. Edith Yates was held from 9:30 a.m., until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
