Ruth Ann Lambing colorRuth Ann Lambing, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the age of 75 years.
Ruth Ann was born in Sullivan, MO on December 3, 1939, to the late Clarence and Helen (Grub) Strauser.
On July 21, 1956, she was united in marriage to Richard F. Lambing, Sullivan, MO in which they celebrated 59 years of marriage in 2015. During this 59 years five children were born to the union.
Ruth Ann was employed as the Restaurant Manager at Meramec Caverns where she was employed for 40 years retiring from the Caverns in 2003. During this time she thrived in the business as a Chef where she catered meals for many stars including: Jamie Farr, who played Klinger in the hit television series M.A.S.H., the filming of two Lassie movies at the Caverns, Dolly Parton, Merl Haggard, Oak Ridge Boys, Porter Wagner, The Lesters, Aerosmith, St. Louis Baseball Cardinal greats Willie McGee and Joaquin Andujar, Cardinal Football great Jackie Smith, Easy Rock 93.7 Morning Show from St. Louis, MO, and many other celebrities.
Following her retirement from Meramec Caverns Ruth Ann opened her own catering business in downtown Sullivan on North Clark St., Catering Etc. Ruth Ann owned and operated the family business for ten years and was known throughout the area for her world famous, prime rib, her other countless recipes and her famous deserts. Her recipes have been published in books including Route 66 Cook Book.
It was during this time that Ruth Ann gave even more of herself and family donating a number of meals and donations to Missouri Baptist Hospital-Sullivan, St. Anthony Parish, Sullivan Fire Department and countless other auctions and benefits for those in need.
Ruth Ann was an active member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, St. Anthony Parish and was a member of Sullivan Chamber of Commerce for over ten years.
Ruth Ann enjoyed holiday cooking with her family, in particular deserts, her beloved pets, but most important to her was her family. She enjoyed long walks on the beaches of Florida, with husband Richard, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family to Ruth Ann was truly everything. The only thing bigger than her legacy in this life was her caring heart.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Franklin Lambing; three sons,Daniel Lambing, of Sullivan, MO; Scott Lambing and wife Anne of St. Charles, MO; and Stephen and wife Lisa Lambing, of Sullivan, MO; one daughter and son-in-law Christine Lambing and Alan Cain, of Sullivan, MO; one daughter-in-law Linda Lambing of O’Fallon, MO; one sister, Carrie Beth Hopkins and husband Tom, of Cadet, MO; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Ruth Ann was proceeded in death by one son, Dewayne Lambing; and one brother, Robert Strauser.
Full Mass Funeral Services were held for Ruth Ann Lambing at St. Anthony Parish, Sullivan, Sat., Nov. 14, 2015 at 10 a.m.
Visitation Services were held at the Eaton Chapel, Sullivan, MO, Fri., Nov. 13, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m.
All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
