Wanda L. Philbrook, of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the age of 86 years.
Wanda was born at Decatur, IL on August 9, 1928 to the late Pearl L. and Pearly (Ellison) Guffey. She was raised in Brownstown, IL and attended school there. On December 14, 1947, Wanda was united in marriage to Charles Philbrook at St. Elmo, IL. In her younger years, she was employed as a waitress and was a cleaning lady. In 1986, she and Charles moved to Sullivan where Wanda worked in the housekeeping department of the Sullivan Hospital. Wanda was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed cross stitching. Her family, however, was the main focus of her life and was known as “a good mom” and grandmother. In her youth, Wanda was baptized and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by three sons, Allen Philbrook of Sullivan, MO, Charles Philbrook, Jr. and wife Jean of St. Louis, MO, and Bradley Philbrook and wife Sandy of Sullivan; two daughters, Janet Hadley of St. Louis, MO and Linda Claus and husband Jim of Bourbon, MO; one brother, Franklin Guffey of the state of Illinois; three sisters, Kay Spain and husband Ed of St. Elmo, IL, Betty Burnbeimer of Brownstown, IL and June Luster of Alton, IL; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Along with her parents and husband Charles, Wanda was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Hadley.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
