James Oshia

James L. Oshia, 86, of Sullivan, passed away on January 9, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. He was born on January 9, 1929 in St. Louis, MO. The son of the late Albert and Loretta (Ackerson) Oshia.
He married Joan Derickson on May 1, 1948 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1990. Then, on June 28, 1991, he married Louise Lange in Sullivan. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2012.
James is survived by five children. One son, Kevin Oshia and special friend Frieda Messex of Sullivan. Four daughters, Pamela Schmidt and husband, Ronald, of Festus, MO, Diane Williams and husband, Alvy, of Houston, MO, Christina Witt and husband, Mark, of Sullivan, and Candy Hatlan and husband, Jack, of Fenton. James was a beloved uncle and grandfather to many.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory P. Oshia on January 9, 2014.
James was an assembly line worker at the Chrysler plant in St. Louis. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bourbon and attended St. Francis Catholic Church of Bourbon.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home Southside Chapel, in Sullivan with Father Richard Boever officiating. Burial followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City, MO. Visitation was Sunday afternoon from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home, 301 Sappington Bridge Road, Sullivan.

Joseph Neil Doza

Joe DozaJoseph Neil Doza, of Leasburg, MO, husband of the late Shirley May (Schroeder) Doza and son of the late Sidney and Pauline (Schubert) Doza, passed away at the Missouri Veterans Home at St. James, MO on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the age of 89 years, three months and one day.
Joe, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Crystal City, MO on October 9, 1925.  He was raised in the St. Louis area and on July 1, 1950 was married to Shirley May Schroeder at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  He honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He attained the rank of Ship fitter Third Class and was assigned to a repair and overhaul unit, repairing ships damaged in battle. The family moved to the Sullivan area in 1965 where Joe was employed at the former Pea Ridge Iron Ore Company.  However, Joe’s true love was cattle farming. He would spend many hours watching his cattle and driving around the countryside. Joe also was self-employed operating Joe’s Canoe Rentals. He loved the river and would also spend many memorable moments on the water. Joe was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church of Bourbon, MO, Russell Schmidt V.F.W. Post 3987 and American Legion Post 0456 of Leasburg.
He is survived by three sons, Mike Doza and wife Gail of Springfield, MO, Steve Doza and wife Lynne of Sullivan and Ken Doza and wife Sherri of Sullivan; one sister, Maurene Jak of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Along with his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Buster and Gene Doza; and three sisters, Margaret Beasty, Dorothy Flowers and Rose Marie Baylock.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, January 16, 2015 from St. Francis Catholic Church in Bourbon with the Rev. Father Richard Boever officiating. Interment with military honors was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Bourbon, MO. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday evening from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Roger Harold Parker

Roger Parker

Roger Harold Parker of Sullivan, MO, husband of Norma Jean (Hill) Parker and son of the late Claude and Violet (Mercer) Parker, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the age of 67 years, 11 months and four days.
Roger was born at Sullivan, MO on February 10, 1947. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan and Bourbon areas and attended Bourbon High School. On November 11, 1967, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Hill at Bourbon, MO and to this marriage three children were born, of which a son, Stacy Eugene preceded him in death. Roger honorably served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany.  Upon his return home after his discharge, Roger was employed at the former Ramsey Corporation in Sullivan as a machinist. He later was self-employed many years as contractor and then afterwards became employed with McBride and Sons Contractors in St. Louis. Roger enjoyed playing golf and deer hunting.  He was also a member of the Crawford County Coon Hunters Association and in his younger years enjoyed bowling. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Bourbon, MO.
He is survived by his wife Norma of the family home; one son, James Allen Parker of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Melissa Tucker and husband, Larry, of Fenton, MO; five brothers, John Parker and wife, Darlene, of Washington, MO, Dean Parker and wife, Betty, of Sullivan, MO, Dewayne Parker and wife, Pam, of Salem, MO, Clifford Parker and wife, Waynetta, of Salem, MO, and Edward Parker and wife Sarah of Joplin, MO; two sisters, Brenda Hughes of Salem, MO, and Linda Bobmeyer and husband, Rich, of House Springs, MO; four grandchildren, Larry, Jr., Shelly, Renee and Connor; six great-grandchildren, Craig, Jr., Madelyn, Brendan, Brayton, Savana and Dylan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Huff, Margaret and Kenny Summers, Delores Hill, Dale and Linda Jones, Barbara and Wayne Ware, Joyce and Raymond Tucker; a host of nieces and nephews; honorary “Grandpa” to many;  other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a son, Stacy Eugene Parker; one brother, Jimmie Parker; parents-in-law, Clinton and Claudine Hill; brothers-in-law, Jim Hughes and Bob Hill; a sister-in-law, Vickie Parker; two nieces, Crystal and Tammy Parker; and one nephew, Doug Parker.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2014 at the First Assembly of God of Bourbon with Pastor Derick Ruble officiating. Cremation followed the services. Visitation was held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the First Assembly of God in Bourbon.
In lieu of flowers, it was the desire of Roger’s that expressions of sympathy be made to the Children’s Ministry of First Assembly of God, Bourbon, MO.  Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Martha Ann Ratliff

Martha Ann Ratliff, 80, formerly of Sullivan, passed away at Marymount Manor in Eureka on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. She was born January 4, 1935 to the late John H. and Pearl (Adams) Whitaker. On April 19, 1952, she married John E. Ratliff in Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2007.
Martha is survived by one son, John Ratliff and wife,Cindy, of Catawissa, MO; one daughter Shelley Francis and husband, Lloyd Jr., of Washington, MO; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary Whitaker and wife, Lynn, of St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Kay Fagin of Indianapolis, IN and Judy Giesler of St. Louis, MO; two sisters-in-law; Ethel Bowen and Deanna Whitaker.
She was preceded in death by two daughters,Vicky Ratliff and Deborah Ratliff; two brothers, Jackie Whitaker and Lindsey Yowell and two sisters; Susie Yowell, and Kathy Whitaker and two sisters-in laws, Nellie Alexander and Opal Bandy.
Martha worked as an assembly line worker in the auto industry. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Martha enjoyed baseball, football, flower gardening and going to yard sales with her mother.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Gerth Cemetery in Bourbon.

Stephen Moeckel

Stephen Martin Moeckel, of Sullivan, MO, husband of Susan (Bacon) Moeckel and son of the late Edward and Cleo (Martin) Moeckel passed away at Mercy Hospital at Washington, MO on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the age of 56 years.
Steve, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Washington, MO on September 18, 1958. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and was a graduate of Sullivan High School, Class of 1977. He had been faithfully employed by Peterson Oil Company in Sullivan for 35 plus years. Steve also enjoyed farming and collecting farm implements and tractors. He would enter many tractor pulling contests and in the winter, when it snowed, he would pull the kids and family on an old truck hood, hours on end, all around the farm. Steve was fond of deer hunting and four-wheeling, but his true love was his family. He was baptized early in life at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife Susan of the family home; two sons, Stephen Moeckel and girlfriend, Ashley Garcia, of Sullivan, Samuel Moeckel of Sullivan; two daughters, Cheryn Moeckel and boyfriend, Matt Tyree, of Sullivan and Brittany Moeckel and fiancée, Brandon Mazzola, of Sullivan; two grandchildren, Kaylyn Tyree and Caleb Mazzola; father-in-law and step-mother-in-law Raymond and Linda Bacon of Sullivan; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Delphia Bacon.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Joe Smith officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Friday evening, January 16, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

John Francis Vanderfeltz, known to all as Jack, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on January 13, 2015, having reached the age of sixty-nine years, nine months and one day.
Jack was born in Glennonville, MO, on April 12, 1945, son of John Herman Vanderfeltz and Veronica Caroline Vanderfeltz nee Bader. On April 30, 1966, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Phillips and four children came to bless this union.
Jack is survived by two sons, John Vanderfeltz and wife, Wanda, of St. Clair, MO, and Kevin Vanderfeltz and life companion, Danielle, of St. Clair; two daughters, Christy Parmentier and companion, Jim, of St. Clair and Jackie Lynn Fischer and husband, Mike, of St. Clair; two sisters, Joan Porter and husband, Richard, known to many as Dick, of Orange, TX and Margaret Russell and husband, Bud, of Colorado Springs, CO; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Vanderfeltz of Boonville, MO; thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his step-son, David Jackson of St. Clair; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Veronica Vanderfeltz; his wife, JoAnn Vanderfeltz; his brother, Joseph Vanderfeltz; and one grandchild, John Vanderfeltz.
Jack was a Christian and member of the St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. At the age of eighteen, he began his working career with International Oil, known as Nordyne, in St. Louis, MO. He began working in the maintenance department and by the time he retired thirty-eight years later, he was working as a tool and die man. He loved the outdoors and going hunting or target practicing with his boys was a favorite pastime. When he was younger, he often spent time working on cars and had even had a racing truck. He was very civic minded and was an active charter member of thirty-one years and past Exalted Ruler and Past Trustee of the St. Clair Elk’s Lodge #2651. Jack was the kind of guy that knew no stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Nothing made him happier than the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
An Elk’s service was held at 4:30 p.m. and a memorial service at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Deacon Harvey Dubbs officiating. Private committal will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the St. Clair Elk’s 2651 Scholarship Fund.

Anna C. Gilliland passed away on January 17, 2015 at the age of 74.
She was born in Northwest MO on June 1, 1940.
She has one sister Naomi Morgan. She had four children, Mary, Barbara, John and Jim. She was married to her husband David for 58 years. She had 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
We all will miss her very much.

Brighton ‘Mac’ McKenzie

Brighton “Mac” McKenzie, 82, of Sullivan, passed away at Life Care Center of Sullivan. He was born September 19, 1932 in Cuyler, NY to the late William J. and Olive E. (May) McKenzie.
He is survived by two sons, Brighton McKenzie, Jr. and wife Julia, of Mascoutah, IL, Lester McKenzie and wife Pat of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Christine Reeves from Mascoutah, IL. Eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister Susie Smith of Des Moines, IA.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Verna Maxine Elder; one grandchild and a son in law, Irvin Reeves, Jr.
“Mac’ worked as a mechanic in the automotive industry.
Services for “Mac” were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home Chapel in Sullivan. Visitation was Tuesday evening from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Charles Steger
Charles Otto Steger, 78, of Bourbon, MO passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. He was born December 10, 1936 in St. Louis, MO to the late Otto Raymond and Bernadette (Geisz) Steger. He married Diane Porter McCameron. She survives of the home.
Charles is survived by nine children; six sons, Charles Steger and wife Ginette of Troy, MO, Christopher Steger and wife Kimberly of O’Fallon, MO, Karl Steger and friend Deneane Pedrotti of Fenton, MO, Paul Steger of Webster Groves, MO, James McCameron of Lewisville, TX and Kevin McCameron of Maplewood, MO; three daughters, Mary Ellen Hornung of Affton, MO, Melanie Steger Mitchell of Eureka, MO and Michelle Steger of Crestwood, MO; eleven grandchildren, Charles Steger, Jr. and wife Karen, Amy Hornung, Andrew Hornung, William Mitchell and wife Erin, Nicole Mitchell, Angelina Mitchell, Christopher J. Steger, Kassandra Steger, Jacob Steger, Karson Steger and Lydia Rose Bennett McCameron, two great-grandchildren, Charles Steger and Kenneth Steger; four sisters, Mary Clair Winter of Montgomery, TX, Barbara Killius and husband Ed of St. Louis, Carol Cullinane and husband Tom of St. Louis, MO and Jane Gasko and husband Gerry of Colorado Springs, CO.
Charles was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church of Bourbon. He owned and operated Steger Foreign Car Repair for 36 years before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors. But most of all, keeping tabs on and helping his children.
Funeral services of Christian Burial were held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Bourbon, with Father Rich Boever officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bourbon. Family received friends Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Donna Jean Corbett

Donna Jean Corbett, of Sullivan, MO, wife of the late John Corbett and daughter of the late Thomas Isaac and Maud Alice (Nettell) Woodcock, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2015 at the age of 85 years.
Donna was born August 18, 1929 in Stanton, MO and had lived the majority of her life in the Sullivan area.  She was a graduate of Sullivan High School, Class of 1945. She was first married to Walter Lindaman and later divorced. On March 3, 2001, she married John Corbett who preceded her in death in March of 2007. Donna co-owned Independent Machine with her husband Walter for a time and had also worked as a secretary with several businesses which included the former Ramsey Corporation, Berry Architecture, Bank of Sullivan and Missouri Baptist Health Care. Donna was a member of the business and Professional Women’s Association of America and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan.
She is survived by a son David Lindaman and wife Laura of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Susan Lindaman of Sullivan; one grandson, Bryce Lindaman;  a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with her husband John and parents, Donna was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald, Cecil, Nelson, Junior and Myron Woodcock and one sister Irene Cowan. Donna was the last of her siblings.
A time of gathering for family and friends was held at the home of Kathy and Barney Hunt, 319 Pine Street, Sullivan, MO from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015.
Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Hazel A. Teeter

Hazel Teeter
Hazel A. Teeter, of Sullivan, MO, wife of the late Pat Teeter, and daughter of the late August Henry and Margaret (Brooks) Richards passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the age of 93 years.
Hazel was born in Bixby, MO on June 11, 1921 and she was raised in several rural areas around Missouri. On December 15, 1941, she was united in marriage to Patrick Teeter in Union, MO and to this marriage three children were born. Hazel was employed for a time at Paramount Headwear, ran a self-service laundry and was a seamstress. Her true vocation in life was that of a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and following the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a 75 year member of Sullivan Rebekah Lodge 319 serving in all offices including Noble Grand three times. Hazel was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Sullivan.
She is survived by one son; Ted Teeter and wife Mary of Sullivan; two daughters, Wilma Scott and husband Robert and Vivian Whalen and husband Jerry all of Sullivan; two brothers-in-law, Bill Teeter of the state of Pennsylvania and Roy Teeter and wife JoAnn of the state of Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Elsie Halmick of Washington, MO; daughter-in-law, Anna Teeter of Sullivan; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Along with her husband Pat, and parents, Hazel was preceded in death by nine siblings and was the last of her brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Sullivan.
Visitation was held from 4:30-8 p.m., Friday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Janice Eileen Ruble

Janice Eileen Ruble, of Sullivan, MO wife of Glen Eugene Ruble, Jr. and daughter of the late Benjamin and Wilma (Coulter) Lyons passed away at Life Care of Sullivan on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the age of 63 years.
Janice was born in St. Louis, MO on March 2, 1951 and was raised in the Potosi area. When she was a young girl, she was baptized in the Baptist faith. On February 14, 1970, Janice was united in marriage to Glen Eugene Ruble, Jr. and to this marriage a daughter was born. Janice loved to garden, especially flowers and she was terribly fond of her dogs, Libby and Susie. More than anything, however, was her constant and abiding love and care given to her husband Glen over these past several years. Through all of his health issues she strived to give him the, best possible care, even though she too was ill.  Janice never complained about her struggles and had a caring heart to all. She loved her country and was a true patriot. She and Glen devoted their time to various C.C.C. restoration projects in the area. Janice will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Eugene Ruble, Jr.; one daughter, Angie Christine Ruble of Rolla, MO; one brother, Gregory Coulter Lyons of Bourbon, MO; and a sister-in-law Glenda Kay Denson and husband Don of Sullivan; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with her parents, Janice was preceded in death by an infant brother, Glennon Allan Lyons.
Funeral services were conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from the First Baptist Church of Stanton, MO with Melody Pryor officiating. Interment was in Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, MO.  Visitation was held on Saturday, at the First Baptist Church of Stanton from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in the name of Janice Eileen Ruble.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Francis E. “Pete” Hinch, 73, of Bourbon, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Life Care Center of Sullivan. He was born to the late Luther and Jessie Elizabeth (Spicer) Hinch.
“Pete” as he is known by his friends, is survived by three children; one son Peter Glen “Butch” Hinch and wife Serena; two daughters, Kim Hope of Union, MO and Kellie Ellington and husband Steve of Cuba, MO; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Williams and husband Dean, Betty Walbrecht and Wanda Summers all of Bourbon, Mo; one uncle, Lloyd Pennock and wife Betty; many cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends and his special companion Tinker.
“Pete” worked as a truck driver for the local cement company.
His wishes were to have his body donated to science. There will be no services at this time.

Randy Lee Brake, Sr., of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the age of 51 years.
He is survived by his wife Patty of the family home; four sons, Randy Lee Brake, Jr. and wife Lisa of Eldon, MO, Matt Brake and wife Stephanie of Sullivan, MO, Justin Watson of Rogers, AR and Richy Ziegler and wife Cristina of St. Clair, MO; two daughters, Dori Martinez and husband Daniel of Rogers, AR and Patty Boyer and husband David of Newburg, MO; one brother, Gary Crull and wife Karen of Mountain View, AR; one sister, Sally Koepke of Bourbon, MO; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Randy was born in Sullivan, MO and had lived the majority of his life in the Sullivan area. He attended Sullivan High School and later became employed in the construction trade as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Randy enjoyed crafting and would make Christmas ornaments, he collected model ships and model NASCAR’s and collecting Budweiser collectibles. He was known as a “down to earth” individual who was very giving of himself and was self-motivated. He was also a jack-of-all-trades, and loved and cared for his pet dogs. His greatest love was NASCAR racing and was well known throughout the area playing the drums with several different bands. Having been companions for 15 years, on July 6, 2013 Randy was married to Patty Cox of Sullivan, MO.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Lucretia Whited officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, MO. Visitation was held from 4:30-8 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Arlen Helton

Arlen Helton, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the age of 90 years.
Arlen was born on October 27, 1924 at Vienna, MO to Vernon Albert and Ethyl L. (Martin) Helton and lived his early life there. He honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Staff Sargent. He served in Company K with the 359th Infantry and one of the brave who landed on the beaches of Normandy and fought in the battles and campaigns of Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe and Northern France. Arlen was decorated with five Bronze Stars, two Purple Heart Medals with one Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds received in action in France, and ribbons for the European African Middle Eastern Theatre campaign and three overseas bars.
After his discharge, Arlen came back to the Vienna area and on July 13, 1946 married his childhood sweetheart, Mae Crider. He was employed for a time with the former CARMO Shoe Factory in Union, MO and later at the Ford Plant in St. Louis. He is mostly known for his employment with Fidelity Communications as a lineman. He retired from there on May 1, 1986.  Arlen enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially fishing with his brother Arthur. He loved dancing and playing the guitar with his brothers and was very proud of his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arlen was a life-time member of the Russell Schmidt V.F.W. Post 3987.
He is survived by his children; Rick Helton and wife Karen of Bourbon, MO; Shelby Dunn and husband Darryl of Sullivan, Tammy Corbett and husband Jim of South Padre Island, TX, Pamela Helton of Sullivan, Shelly Jones of Branson, MO; and a grandson, Jared Helton whom he loved as his own; brothers and sisters, Arthur Helton of Vienna, MO, Harold Helton of Ironton, MO, Warren Helton, Wayne Helton, Roger Helton, Sonny Helton, Leona Williams all of Vienna, MO, and Joyce Sallins of Murray, KY; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Along with wife and parents, Arlen was preceded in death by a son, Gary Arlen Helton; sisters, Louise Vemmer, Lola DeLashmit, Lorene O’Haver and infant twin brother and sister, Ruth and William Helton; his step-mother-in-law, Dorothy Green Helton; and sons-in-law, Gary Thomeczek and Brian Senters.
Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m., Fri., Feb. 6, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Lambeth Memorial Cemetery, Vienna, MO. Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan from 4:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Olive Rae Collins, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the age of 86 years.
Olive was born on April 13, 1928 in St. Clair, Missouri to the late Steven and Belle (Brown) Taylor. Olive was raised in the St. Clair area.  She was first married to Amos James Burton who preceded her in death. Several years later, she was married to Lawrence Collins and he too, preceded her in death. Olive was employed for a time at the former DEB Shoe Company in St. Clair and later at Von Wiese Gear Company as an assembly line worker. Olive enjoyed refinishing furniture and delighted in going to yard sales. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
She is survived by one son, Dennis Burton and wife Brenda of Union, MO; two daughters, Carol Burton of Independence, MO and Debra Mun of Sullivan, MO; one brother, Kenneth Taylor and wife Mary of St. Clair, MO; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Olive was also preceded in death by a son, Dean Collins, three brothers, Steven, Jr., Harold and William Taylor eight sisters, Lenora Taylor in infancy, Rose Sutterfield, Ann Miller,  Delma Taylor, Beulah Hawkins, Marie Miller, Sylvia Duncan and Myrna Gudermuth.
Memorial funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Sat., Feb. 7, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Fern Nye officiating. A gathering of family and friends was held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.  Memorials may be made to the Missouri Masonic Home, 6033 Masonic Drive, suite A, Columbia, MO or in c/o Sullivan Lodge 69 AF & AM.

Rose Bindner, 98, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab, in Troy. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Anna (Wehn) Friesenhan. She married Frank J. Bindner on June 21, 1935 in Bourbon, MO, he preceded her in death.
Rose is survived by two sons; Ronald Bindner of Moscow Mills, MO and Robert Bindner of St. Peters, MO; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters Marge Killian of Bourbon and Pauline Harris of Sullivan, MO.
She was preceded in death by one-great grandchild, Jesse Bindner; four sisters, Catherine Schroeder, Marie Davis, Helen Merkel and Frances Voss.
Rose grew up in Bourbon and moved to St. Louis after marrying Frank and worked as a receptionist for a chiropractic office.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Bourbon. Family received friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Mildred Catherine “Kay” Janish, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Wednesday, February, 4, 2015 at the age of 72 years.
Kay was born in St. Louis, MO to Harry and Bertha (Cox) Herbert and was raised there as a young girl. On August 24, 1960, she was united in marriage to Wayne Janish. They have made their home in the Sullivan area the past 40 years. Kay was employed as a stitcher at Paramount Headwear Company in Bourbon and later retired from there. She was known as a caring and kind individual who had a sweet, giving spirit. Kay enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles. She was a friend to many and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne, of the family home; two daughters, Jane Crosby and husband, Ted, of Owensville, MO and Tammy Reid and husband, Jay, of Gerald, MO; one brother, Harry Herbert of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Tabetha Jones and husband, Darrin, Jason Figgemeier, Tiffany DeBroeck and fiancée, Nick Huesgen, Tianna Figgemeier and fiancée Nick Tracy, Dakota DeBroeck, and Courtni Crosby; four great-grandchildren; Derek Jones, Emmett Jones, Camri Jones and Jayci Kolb; other relatives and friends.  Kay was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Rieger.
Visitation for Mrs. Kay Janish was held on Saturday, February, 7, 2015 from 2:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Clark Street location in Sullivan. Burial was private.
Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Billy Burkhardt

Billy L. Burkhardt, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at the age of 96 years.
Billy was born in Kansas City, MO on January 22, 1919 to the late Fred and Mary (Marquette) Burkhardt. He had made his home in Kansas City until graduating high school when he enlisted at Cheltenham, England in the U.S. Army. He honorably served his country with the 10th Signal Radio Maintenance Team and attained the rank of Tech Sargent. Upon his return after the war, Billy enrolled at what was then known as the Rolla School of Mines and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.  He was employed thirty-three years at the Sullivan mines and was known to be the second man hired at that site. On December 21, 1947, he was united in marriage to Janet Wood.  They made their home in Sullivan after Billy was hired at the mines. He enjoyed volunteering as a member of the Sullivan Hospital Auxiliary and singing the church choir. Billy was a member of the Sullivan Country Club and along with playing golf, enjoyed trout fly fishing and would often tie his own flies. Billy also enjoyed motocross races and his beloved cat Laci Boots. He was a dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church of Sullivan and was known for his outgoing personality and his ability to do for others before himself.
He is survived by a son, Frank Burkhardt and wife, Tina, of Sullivan, MO and one daughter, Peggy Burkhardt of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, William and Heidi Burkhardt; one great-granddaughter, Jersey Burkhardt; nieces and nephews, Sharon Fitzgibbon, Connie Frank, Donna Burkhardt, Fred Burkhardt, Jerry Coleman and Nancy Weeks; other relatives and many friends.
Along with his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife Janet; a brother Fred Burkhardt and a sister Bobbi Coleman.
Memorial funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Steve Williams officiating.  A gathering of family and friends was held from 9:30 until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Donald Carpenter Sr

Donald Eugene Carpenter, Sr., of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the age of 82 years. He is the son of the late Floyd Wilbur and Nora Laveta (Hamm) Carpenter. On November 10, 1957, he married Barbara Corena Duncan. She preceded him in death on March 26, 1994. Donald then married Thelma Hilliard on June 6, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma, (Hilliard) of the family home; one son, Donald E. Carpenter, Jr. and wife, Lillian, of St. Louis, MO; two step-sons, Kenny and Donald Hilliard both of Sullivan; two daughters, Alice Brauninger and husband, Mark, of Sullivan and Lonnie Sue Pope and husband, Christopher, of Maryville, IL; one step-daughter, Thelma Locey of Durant, OK; one brother, Jim Carpenter of Poplar Bluff, MO; two sisters; Marie Richmond and husband, Norman, of Grandin, MO and Patricia Tobin and husband, Leroy, of Cahokia, IL; six grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Donald always had a smile on his face and never knew a stranger. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed gospel singing and eating. Most of all, he loved the Lord with his whole heart. Donald was a factory worker for most of his life working in electrical manufacturing.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home Chapel, Clark Street location, Sullivan, MO with interment in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL. Visitation was held from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
