Dorothy Ann Zelch, 73, of Owensville, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Frene Valley of Owensville from Alzheimer’s disease.
Dorothy was born in St. Louis on September 28, 1941 to the late Joseph and Mildred (Ehlers) Engler. On August 13, 1960, in Affton, she was united in marriage to Charles R. Zelch. She and her husband owned and operated the “Ozark Playgrounds” dance hall for many years, she had worked at Owensville Bowl and was a bookkeeper in St. Louis before she retired. Before she was diagnosed, she was a member of the Owensville Lion’s Club, a member of the St. Louis Polka Club and traveled with Legends Bank. She loved to play Bingo, dance, attend Cardinals’ baseball games and feed the birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred Engler; parents-in-law, Charles P. and Lillian Zelch; husband, Charles R. Zelch; and sister-in-law, Sharon Jean Zelch.
Her survivors include her six children, Chaz and Donna Zelch of Louisville, KY, Debbie Jarvis and husband, Robert, of Gerald, Daniel Zelch and wife, Jeanne, of Rosebud, Sam Zelch and Ken Jenkins of Belmont, CA, Peggy Farrell and husband, Randy, of Owensville and Lisa Eckert of Owensville; her twin sisters, Joan Meyer and husband, Ed, of Arnold and Jean Fox and husband, Tom, of Huntsville, NC; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glen and Barbara Zelch of Nevada, Clyde Zelch of Rosebud, Linda Logan of Sullivan, Fred and Kathy Zelch of St. Louis, Joe and Sharon Zelch of Rosebud, Krystal and Dennis Hulsey of Rosebud and Steve and Deanna Zelch of Sullivan; and by 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 28 at Holy Martyrs Japan Catholic Church with Fr. John Patrick Day officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
