Dorothy L. Slezak

Dorothy L. Slezak, of Sullivan, MO passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan age of 91 years.
Dorothy was born on January 16, 1924 in Byrnes Mill, MO to the late Michael and Dora Dunnigan. She grew up on the family farm and during WWII, worked at the small arms plant in St. Louis. On August 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles G. Slezak in St. Louis and to this marriage three children were born. They moved to Sullivan from House Springs, MO in 1953 where Charlie operated the W.H. Powell Lumber Company and Dorothy was the bookkeeper. After her retirement, Dorothy helped her son Tom at the Sullivan Bowl. She and Charlie were avid campers and at one time, were a member of the Airstream Club. Charlie preceded Dorothy in death on July 10, 2010. She was a devoted wife and mother who will long be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Tom Slezak and wife Roxanne of Sullivan; a daughter, Linda Leake and husband, Jay, of Sullivan; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Dunnigan of House Springs, MO; other relatives and friends. Along with her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Charles F. “Butch” Slezak and two brothers, Bobby Dunnigan in infancy and Samuel Dunnigan.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, in Sullivan with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
