Gladys Marie Loden, of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the age of 61 years.
Gladys was born on January 3, 1954 in Athens, TX to the late John Edward and Ellen Marie (Pryor) Walton. She was raised in La Mesa, TX and came to the Sullivan area in October of 1988. Before coming to Sullivan, Gladys was employed as a waitress in Texas and later in the Branson, MO area. After coming to Sullivan, she became employed as an over-the-road commercial truck driver with TLC Truck Lines and drove until ill heath caused her retirement. Her “handle” was Yellow Rose. Gladys enjoyed crocheting, making dolls and quilts and was also a crafter and was fond of cooking. She was known as a very social person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her companion of 35 years, Russell Mercer; two sons, Justin Loden of Bourbon, MO and Austin Loden of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Shirley Mercer of Sullivan and Christy Loden and companion Hershel Simpson both of Sullivan; two brothers, Curtis and John Walton, both of the state of Texas; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m., Tuesday evening, February, 3, 2015, from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Mike Delashmit officiating. Cremation followed the service. Visitation was held from 4:30 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
