Donald Eugene Carpenter, Sr., of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the age of 82 years. He is the son of the late Floyd Wilbur and Nora Laveta (Hamm) Carpenter. On November 10, 1957, he married Barbara Corena Duncan. She preceded him in death on March 26, 1994. Donald then married Thelma Hilliard on June 6, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma, (Hilliard) of the family home; one son, Donald E. Carpenter, Jr. and wife, Lillian, of St. Louis, MO; two step-sons, Kenny and Donald Hilliard both of Sullivan; two daughters, Alice Brauninger and husband, Mark, of Sullivan and Lonnie Sue Pope and husband, Christopher, of Maryville, IL; one step-daughter, Thelma Locey of Durant, OK; one brother, Jim Carpenter of Poplar Bluff, MO; two sisters; Marie Richmond and husband, Norman, of Grandin, MO and Patricia Tobin and husband, Leroy, of Cahokia, IL; six grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Donald always had a smile on his face and never knew a stranger. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed gospel singing and eating. Most of all, he loved the Lord with his whole heart. Donald was a factory worker for most of his life working in electrical manufacturing.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home Chapel, Clark Street location, Sullivan, MO with interment in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL. Visitation was held from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
