Derek Kyle Palmer, 21, of Caldwell, ID, formerly of Sullivan, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Kyle, as many knew him, was born on April 28, 1995 in Lyons, KS to his mother, Melissa Fischer. As a young boy, he was adopted by Terry and Sherry Palmer and Sullivan became his home. Kyle grew up and attended Sullivan Schools where he was known for his free spirit and sense of adventure. He was a “road warrior” who loved traveling, especially riding trains. Though he lived a troubled life, Kyle never missed an opportunity to share his huge heart with others like lending a helping hand or sitting with the elderly. Among some of his many interests, Kyle enjoyed doing “parkour” tricks, listening to music and playing guitar. Most recently, he had been enrolled with the Job Corps in Caldwell, ID.
Derek is survived by his parents, Terry and Sherry Palmer of Washington, MO; two brothers, Aaron Palmer of Austin, TX and Alex Palmer of Washington, MO; two sisters, Candice Posey and husband Rob of Sullivan, MO and Tessa Fischer of Union, MO; his beloved niece and nephew, Morgan and Zakry Posey; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Derek is preceded in death by his biological mother Melissa Fischer; and two grandmothers, Ima Vanatter and Sandy Peterson.
A Memorial Service for Kyle took place on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 1 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan.
A Celebration of Life Gathering for Friends and Family was held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
