diehl-obit-colorSecond Lt. Samuel Anderson Diehl, baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, Wed., Oct. 12, 2016.

Loving son of John J. (Kelly) Diehl, Jr. and Nancy Marshall (Michael F.) Avioli; beloved grandson of John and Carol Diehl, Sr., Fred Marshall and Jean Mannino, Charlie and Colleen Brown and Joan and the late Louis Avioli; dear brother of Joshua B. and Daniel J. Diehl, Louis V., Liam T. and Paul G. Avioli; our dear nephew, cousin, friend, and fellow soldier in service of this great country.

“The long gray line of us stretches thro’ the years of a century told

And the last one feels to the marrow, the grip of your far off hold.

Grip hands with us now though we see not, grip hands with us strengthen our hearts.

And the long line stiffens and straightens with the thrill that your presence imparts

Grip hands tho’ it be from the shadows. While we swear, as you did of yore.

Or living or dying, to honor, the Corps, and the Corps, and the Corps.”

Rest in Peace our beloved Sam. May you find eternal happiness and peace in the hands of the Lord.

Second Lieutenant, Fort Rucker Alabama United States Military Academy-West Point, Class of 2015 Chaminade College Preparatory School, Class of 2011 Services are pending.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Sam’s name to the Saint Louis Military Officers Support Foundation at www.buildwarriors.org.
