Services for Edith Protte, 82, of Bourbon, MO, were at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO, with Pastor Charlie Idleman officiating. According to Edith’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service.
Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, October 3, at the Eaton Funeral Home and continue the day of the service 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Edith Lorene West was born February 10, 1934 in Leasburg, MO the daughter of Bert and Bertha (Bryan) West. She grew up and attended school at Possum Hollow. Edith was blessed with seven children: Bill, Roger, Bobby, Gary, Betty, Peggy, Stanley, Kevin, and James. Over the years, Edith made lots of friends at the various places she worked in Bourbon. Such places included, Green Short Stop, Mary’s Café, Hen House, and the Casual Inn. Edith eventually retired from Meramec Industries.
Edith loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Having many friends meant so much to her also. Many of them called her “Mom” and “Grandma.”
Edith is survived by her two daughters: Peggy Gargus and Betty Stotler both of Bourbon; six sons: Bill Mallow of Killeen, TX, Roger Protte (and his wife, Peggy) of Leasburg, Bobby Protte of Sullivan, Gary Protte (and his wife, Stephanie) of Leasburg, Stanley Protte and Kevin Protte, both of Bourbon; three brothers: Earl West and John West (and his wife, Claudene) all of Las Vegas, NV, and Ronald West (and his wife, Janet) of Sullivan; three sisters: Jean Thompson (and her husband, Doyle) of Potosi, MO, June Peters of St. Clair, MO, and Lavell Dunlap of Viburnum, MO; 27 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 11 eleven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Mallow; and George and Fred Halbert.
Edith passed away late Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.
