Marie J. Setzler, 100, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, August 7, 2016, at Friedman Village Assisted Living in Tiffin.
She was born October 7, 1915, in Fayette County Iowa, to Arthur and Mildred (Roys) Shambaugh. She married Howard Setzler at St. Jacobs UCC Church in Republic, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Weis of Attica, a son, David (Brenda) Setzler of Sullivan, MO, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, a son in-law, Leo Weis, and a niece Sandra and a nephew Arthur.
She was a member of St. Jacobs United Church of Christ, the Women’s Guild, Church Women United, Union Grange, and she volunteered for several years at Fairhaven Home in Upper Sandusky. She enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting and traveling.
Marie first taught school at Jackson-Burgoon Schools, and from 1959 until 1980 at Attica and Seneca East Schools, retiring in 1980.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at St. Jacobs United Church of Christ, CR. #38 Republic, with Rev. Mark Booster officiating. Burial followed at St. Jacobs Cemetery Republic.
Visitation was held 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the St. Jacobs UCC Church Republic.
