Walter Krone obit colorWalter L. Krone, 76 of Sullivan, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

He was born September 6, 1939 in Vienna, MO, the son of Leonard and Ruby (Franklin) Krone. Walter’s family moved to Belle, MO as a child where he attended school and later was united in marriage to Lorene L. Nilges on August, 5, 1959. They moved to the Sullivan area in the 60’s where they raised their three children and resided ever since. His main occupation was as a tram operator with the Pea Ridge Mines where he worked for 27 years.

Walter was a man that touched the lives of everyone whom he came into contact with. Even the aides that took care of him said he reminded them of their grandpa or dad and would even come in with their kids to visit him on their day off. Walter went through many trials, but he never let them keep him down. He was a true example of how God uses trials to build our strength and develop our relationship with him and he did just that. Walter was the strongest man, we as a family knew, as well as a man of God. Never once losing his faith through all his hardships. He was a funny man who loved to laugh, joke with his family when we visited and always had a silly face reaching to hold our hand and telling us he loved us.  It would be very rare to walk in the room and not see “Family Feud” on his television. Walter also loved his westerns, Cardinals games, and being read to from the Bible by his family due to his passion to know the Lord. He loved playing Bingo over the years with Lorene before she passed and could have spent every day with a fishing pole in his hand. Through the years, we enjoyed sitting and listening to him sing all day long. He loved his guitar, country music and never liked to pass an opportunity to join in on “karaoke” with some Johnny Cash and George Jones. He loved old cars, especially his son Mike’s Camaro. Walter could watch out the window for hours at his humming birds and then talk to us about how many there were that day and all they were doing. However, nothing was more important to him then his family. He brought so much love and joy to our lives and will be truly missed. He was definitely one of the greats!

He is survived by his children; Mike Krone and wife Rita of Sullivan, Missy Bryant and husband Lonnie of Sullivan, Tonya Ware and husband Russell of Bourbon, five grandchildren: Michael Bunton of Sullivan, Chase Krone of Sullivan, Cortney Krone of Ballwin, MO, Tessa Cowhick of Bourbon and Leah Starks of Bourbon; eight great-grandchildren, two sisters; Sandy Stone and Juanita Barton both of Jefferson City, MO, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Lorene Krone and his great-granddaughter Miah Love.

Visitation for Walter was held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO with Pastor Derick Ruble officiating. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Vienna, MO. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.
