James Earl ‘Jimmy’ Mallow

James Mallow obit colorJames Earl “Jimmy” Mallow of Bourbon, MO, passed away at his home on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the age of 63 years.

Jimmy, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on March 9, 1953 inLeasburg, MO to Kenneth Earl Mallow and Edith Lorene West Mallow. He had lived his entire life in the Bourbon and Leasburg areas. Jimmy was known as the “Can Man” around town as he was always collecting cans along the roadways and doing his part to keep the area clean. He always thought about others and would never spend his money on himself but on his friends when they needed help. Jimmy was loved by all and was always very friendly. He enjoyed fishing and bowling and had participated in the Special Olympics in Bowling. He had also worked at the sheltered workshop in Cuba, MO and for a time in the shelter in Sullivan.

He is survived by his mother, Edith Protte of Bourbon; six brothers, Billy Mallow of Killeen, TX, Roger Protte and wife Peggy of Leasburg, MO, Robert Protte. Jr., of Bourbon, Gary Protte and wife Stephanie of Leasburg, Stanley Protte and Kevin Protte both of Bourbon; two sisters, Betty Stotler and Betty Gargus both of Bourbon; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Charles Idleman officiating. Cremation then followed the services. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Eaton Funeral Home, (Clark Street Location) in Sullivan and also on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
