Gary Dale Goddard of Sullivan, MO, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at the age of 65 years.
Gary was born in St. Louis, MO, on August 24, 1950 to the late Everett and Virginia (Kearney) Goddard. He was a life-long resident of Sullivan and was a 1968 graduate of Sullivan High School. After graduation, Gary attended Southwest MO State University at Springfield, MO. On July 15, 1989, he was united to Karen Kopp in Sullivan, MO and to this union two daughters were born. Gary was employed at the Chrysler Corporation Plant in Fenton for 32 years and later retired from there. In his retirement, Gary drove a school bus for the Sullivan School System. Gary was fond of sports and was a member of the first Sullivan High School football team, playing the position of Tackle. He also enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagles and racing his 1968 Camaro. Gary was a member of the Sullivan Fraternal Order of Eagles, lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and member of the National Hot Rod Association. He was known by all to have had a big heart and always gave of himself to others. He had a sense of humor and never talked bad of anyone.
He is survived by his wife Karen of the family home; two daughters, Aurilla and Shayla Goddard, both of the family home; two sisters, Janet Ghased and husband Ray of Ballwin, MO and Launa Goddard of Sullivan; a special nephew, Alex Goddard whom he loved as his own; sister-in-law, Jeanette Kopp of Sullivan; and his caregivers, Ron and Dinna Flynn; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO with Pastor Duke West and Tina Lawrence officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Sullivan. Visitation was held from 4 -8 p.m., Monday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Gary Goddard Sports Scholarship at Sullivan High School.
