Sandra Janish obit colorSandra L. Janish, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the age of 76 years.

Sandy, as she was known, was born on July 7, 1939 to the late Ira and Florence Fry Janish in St. Louis, MO. She was united in marriage to John Edward Janish, Sr. on June 30, 1956 and three children were born to their marriage. Sandy and Ed moved to Japan 50 years ago and became members of Old Argo Presbyterian Church.

At the farm they loved, she found a love for teaching the area youth about horsemanship and later became a 4-H Horsemanship leader. She enjoyed raising farm animals and her horses. Anyone who knew Sandy knew her love for flowers, plants, and playing in the dirt. She opened her own greenhouse named, The Japan Greenhouse and Nursery. Sandy was a long time member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 3781, where she volunteered and enjoyed helping with charity work and canned food drives. Sandy enjoyed the outdoors, playing Bingo, and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children; John Janish and wife, Kathy of Sullivan, Matt Janish of Sullivan, Tracy Janish of Sullivan, 8 grandchildren; Justin Janish and wife Chrissy, Kyle Janish and wife Karen, Dusty Janish and fiancée, Brad Thurman, Kody Janish, Bode Janish, Brittany Hill and husband Ryan, Mitchell Wideman and Melissa Bain and husband Dereck, 6 great-grandchildren; Andrew Toms, Alexis McCulloch, Kylee and Caleb Janish, Paisley Hill and Jackson Bain, one sister; Shirley Thompson of St. Louis, MO, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Along with her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her brother and sister in law, Ira L. and Margaret Leake, brothers in law, Allen Thompson and Wayne Janish, sister in law, Kay Janish and grandson, Chance Janish.

A Memorial funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m.  Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Old Argo Presbyterian Church, Sullivan, MO with Pastor Rob Cardwell officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at Old Argo Presbyterian Church.

All arrangements are under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
