Alice Geraldine Mullen of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the age of 91 years, two months and five days.
Sister Gerry, as she was known by her family and friends, was born on December 30, 1924 at Bourbon, Missouri to the late Royal and Dorthea May (Kruse) Cartwright. On November 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to Pastor Oliver Mullen and to this marriage two children were born. Sister Gerry was known to all as a singer, piano player, seamstress, gardener, canner, cook, Sunday school teacher crafter, birdhouse builder, wife, mother and grandma. But most importantly, she was a soul winner for Jesus.
She is survived by her husband Pastor Oliver Mullen of the family home; two children, David Mullen and wife Jeannie of Sullivan, and Alice Hewkin and husband Mark of Sullivan; one sister, Emma Murphy and husband Dale of Bourbon, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Moreland and husband Joe, Mark Hewkin II, Matthew and Marissa Hewkin; 2 great-grandchildren, Lexie and Aiden Moreland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Sister Gerry was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, James, Walter and Paul Cartwright; and two sisters, her twin sister Pauline Ramstein and a sister in infancy Dorthea Mae Cartwright.
Funeral services were conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 from New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastor Charlie Idelman officiating. Interment was in Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. Visitation was held from 9:30 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, New Testament Baptist Church or the Humane Society.
