Charles J. Hammonds, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the age of 84 years.
Charles was born on August 22, 1931 to the late Charles M. and Minnie (Farrell) Hammonds in Sligo, MO. On March 7, 1992, he was united in marriage to Edna M. Ziegler in Leasburg, MO. Charles was employed as a mechanic for a time, but mostly as a commercial truck driver for several companies in the area. He loved spending time with his large family and in his free time enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, trading trucks, attending auctions and rodeos.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of the Family home; seven sons, Gary Hammonds and wife, Phyllis of Bremerton, WA, Timothy Hammonds and wife, Elizabeth of Cuba, MO, Richard Hammonds of Richwoods, MO, Terry Hammonds and companion, Patty Bachaus of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Michael Hammonds of Sullivan, MO, Charles Hammonds and wife, Polly of Martinsville, IN, David Day and wife, Cynthia of Sullivan, MO, and; four daughters, Cheryl Miller and fiancé, James Lewis of St. Clair, MO and Linda Hardin and husband, Charlie of Leasburg, MO, Christinia Messex and husband Sam of Richwoods, MO and Lorett Parnell and husband Christopher of Brookhaven, MS; 34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, (Clark Street location) in Sullivan with interment in Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, MO. Visitation was held from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
