Alice M. Thexton, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the age of 83 years, eight months and seven days.
Alice was born on August 3, 1932 at Ishpeming, MI to the late Peter and Aldea (Morin) DeLongchamp. She was raised there and later in life on June 7, 1952, was married to Clifford W. Thexton at Ishpeming. In 1961, Clifford became employed at Pea Ridge Iron Ore Mine and the family moved to Sullivan. Alice was employed as a cook for 30 years at Saint Anthony School in Sullivan and was a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sullivan V.F.W. She was also a member of the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary in Sullivan as well as a devoted member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church. Alice was later a resident of Life Care of Sullivan where she was known as the Honorary Mayor of Life Care. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by four sons; Larry Thexton and wife Fran of Warrensburg, MO, John Thexton and friend Cheryl Roderque of Sullivan, MO, David Thexton and wife Julie of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Cliff Thexton and wife Cheri of Sullivan; one brother, Jack DeLongchamp and wife Brenda of Beaumont, California; one sister, Jeanne Mosca of Ishpeming, MI; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Rene Cote; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in November of 1982; two sisters, Irene and Helen Delongchamp and a brother-in-law Albert Mosca.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 from Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with Rev. Father Paul Telken officiating. Visitation was held on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary Services were conducted at 7 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to Saint Anthony School in the name of Alice Thexton.
