Born in Sullivan, Missouri on June 7, 1928. Departed on October 3, 2015 and resided in St. Peters, Missouri.
Umbright, LaVerne (nee: McDaniel), of St. Peters, MO, died on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the age of 87. Loving wife of Charles Umbright; beloved daughter of the late Goldie and Howard Key; devoted mother of Dale Umbright, Steven (Teresea) Umbright, Sheila Umbright, and Vickie (Rick) Pingleton; cherished grandmother of Andrea, Cyndi, Brian, Sherri, and Justin; treasured great-grandmother of Derek, Tyler, Rowan, Casie, and Julian; dear great-great-grandmother of Michael; dear sister of VivaLou (Jerry) Carey and Larry (Sharon) Key. She is preceded in death by her son Charles Umbright III.
LaVerne attended Sullivan High School and worked briefly at the Brown Shoe Factory. She met the love of her life one evening while watching a pinochle game at Shorty’s Drug Store. She married her husband of 68 years in 1947. She had 5 children and retired after 24 years from St. Louis Special School District. LaVerne loved camping, boating, and baking but family was her passion in life. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
