William Edward Lackey, known to most as Eddie and to some as Bill, of Sullivan, MO, formerly St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO, on October 1, 2015, having reached the age of sixty-five years, four months and twenty days. Eddie was born in Lilbourn, MO, on May 11, 1950, son of Edward William Lackey and Dessa Lackey nee Prince. As a young man he was united in marriage and during his life, blessed to have six children.
Eddie is survived by four sons, Marty Lackey and wife, Suzanne, of Union, MO, Chris Lackey and wife, Leann, of Leasburg, MO, Brad Lackey and companion, Betty, of Rolla, MO and Jamie Lackey of Springfield, MO; by two daughters, Dawn McCarty of Desloge, MO and Angela Lackey and companion, Sam Halmick, of Sullivan, MO: by two brothers, Dale Lackey and wife, Sue, of St. Clair, MO and Duane Lackey of St. Clair; by four sisters, Darlene Enloe of St. Clair, Ruth Scott of Sullivan, MO, Mona Ficke of Sullivan and Carolyn Sue Isgriggs and husband, Lester, of Sullivan; by twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Eddie was a Christian of the Baptist faith, believing in the Lord as his Savior. During his working years, he had worked at various trades, including working at Maverick Tube in Union, MO and Tradco in Washington, MO. For most of his working years, he was an over the road truck driver, having been self employed and also having worked for TLC Trucking in St. Clair, MO. He also worked transporting mobile homes, which lead to his job with Belmont Mobile Home Sales in St. Clair, where he transported and set up mobile homes. He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He was also a great pool player and enjoyed the fellowship of friends he made playing in pool tournaments. Eddie was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading western novels, as well as watching western movies. Each of his children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who loved him.
Memorial services were held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Jeff Scott officiating. Private committal will take place in Anaconda Cemetery in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the family. The Lackey family entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO.
