Virginia Jean Sands Falloon
Virginia J. Falloon, 89, of rural Montgomery City, MO, died on Monday, April 20, 2015, at her home surrounded by family.
Virginia Jean Sands Falloon was born October 4, 1925 in Mackinaw, IL to Samuel Donelly Sands and Carrie B. Evans Sands. She graduated from Hopedale High School in Hopedale, IL. Mrs. Falloon married Walter Ray Falloon on December 25, 1943, what a wonderful Christmas as they were married over 65 years before Mr. Falloon preceded her in death on May 20, 2009. They left for Missouri in 1944 to operate a dairy farm; they had a milk route and farmed until 1953. Mrs. Falloon was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a member of the Buell United Methodist Church in Buell, MO; she loved to weave rugs, do crafts, work with her flowers, and garden. Mrs. Falloon would travel to all kinds of craft fairs and Old Thresher Shows to show and sell her beautiful rugs and crafts. She loved to visit with all her family, her friends, and her pets.
Mrs. Falloon is survived by three children: Ellen Hendricks and husband, Byron, of Foristell, MO; Diana Long of Montgomery City, MO; and David Falloon and wife, Mary “Sis,” of Montgomery City, MO. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Dr. Jeffery Long and wife, Dr. Mahua Bhattacharya, of Elizabethtown, PA; Becky Falloon Queathem and husband, Karl; Chris Falloon and wife, Joni; and Adam Falloon and wife, Richelle, all of Montgomery City, MO; eleven great-grandchildren: Sydney, Jacob, Ashley, Samantha, Madison, and Chase Queathem; Alex, Isabelle, Sullyvan, Brady and Brycen Falloon; one brother, Russell Sands of Hopedale, IL; nieces, nephews and friends. Also surviving are her puppy dog companions: Chigger a wonderful companion for 13 years; Polly, Happy and Lacey.
Mrs. Falloon was preceded in death by her parents: Samuel Donelly and Carrie B. Evans Sands; her husband, Walter “Ray” Falloon; one brother, Paul Sands and wife, Norma; and one sister-in-law, Lila Sands.
Funeral services was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Dr. Jeffery Long will officiate and interment will be in the Montgomery City Cemetery in Montgomery City, MO. Visitation was held from noon until the time of service on Thursday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. Casketbearers include Robert Richardson, Dave Teeter, Adam Falloon, Chris Falloon, Alex Falloon and Jacob Queathem. Honorary casketbearers include Byron Hendricks and Karl Queathem.
