Barbara S. Zagar of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at the age of 68 years.
Barbara was born at Corning, Arkansas on May 20, 1946 to Edgar and Opal (Stroud) Parrish. She was raised both in Corning and the majority of the time in St. Louis by her brother Edgar, Jr. Barbara graduated from Affton High School in 1965. She was employed in various jobs, first in office work and later in-home health care and nursing homes. She attained her LPN Certificate in 1995. On February 2, 1974 she was united in marriage to Alan Vogt who preceded her in death in November of 1990. Barbara was later married to Steve Zagar on May 19, 2008. He too, preceded her in death in December of 2013. Barbara was known as a selfless person who put the needs of others before her own. She was known as “Mom” to many and her family was her true love. She enjoyed baking and was known for her pies and cookies. She also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing and was also a collector of Fenton and Lenox glass items. Barbara was a member of the Sullivan VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was baptized as a young girl into the Christian faith.
She is survived by four daughters, Dianne Bogert and husband, Jim, of Sullivan, Missouri, Sandy Brueggemann and husband, Jerome, of Marthasville, Missouri, Julie Bailey and Kathryn Schlitt both of Villa Ridge, Missouri; a step-son, Steve Zagar of Columbia, Missouri; one brother David Parrish of DeSoto, Missouri, and sister-in-law Teddy Parrish of Columbia, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, Rachel, Derek, Cheyenne, Matthew, Chris, Weston, Erika, Megan, Gracilyn, Ethan, Loghan and Zach; three great-grandchildren, Connor, Ryan and Landon; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Alan Vogt in November of 1990 and her husband Steve Zagar in December of 2013; and two brothers, Edgar Parrish, Jr. and wife, Norma, and Gerald Parrish.
Funeral services were conducted 7:30 p.m., on Sunday evening, April 12, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with James Eaton officiating. Cremation was performed following the funeral service. Visitation for Barbara Zagar was held from 4:30 p.m. until time of service at 7:30 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Clark Street location.
