Thomas M. McNiff, age 77 of Miramiguoa Park, Sullivan, MO, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016.

Thomas M. NcNiff was born on March 2, 1939 to the late James and Catherine Schiller McNiff in St. Louis, MO. He was employed by Sears as an appliance repairman for 20-plus years.

In 1980, Thomas moved to the Sullivan area where he remained until his passing. He enjoyed hanging out with the fellows at the Sullivan V.F.W. and spending time with Brenda and family. He will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his significant other; Brenda Caudill of Sullivan, three sons; Thomas McNiff of St. Louis, Timothy McNiff and wife Imelda of Troy, Edward McNiff of St. Peters, step son; Lee Caudill of Sullivan, step daughter; Angie Lashlee and husband Jim of Gray Summit, four grandchildren; Abigail, Faith, Emily and Edward McNiff, six step-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

It was Mr. McNiff’s wish to donate his body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Services for Patsy Schatz, 82 of Bourbon, MO were conducted 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO with Pastor Allen Duda officiating. Burial followed at Stanton Cemetery in Stanton, MO.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home.

Patsy Ruth was born July 8, 1934 in Hemet, CA, the daughter of Arttie and Edith (Craver) Sullivan. She grew up and attended school in California. On November 26, 1950, Patsy was united in marriage to Charles Schatz in Beaumont, CA. To this union two children were born: Jackie & Charles William. In 1954, Charlie and Patsy moved the family back to Missouri and they made their home in Sullivan. She worked for several years for the Ramsey Corp. and eventually went to work for Fidelity for the next 36 years. Patsy continued working after Charlie’s death in 1990 retiring from Fidelity in 1998. She loved hand embroidery, and through the years her family were the recipients of her many cherished creations including pillow cases. Patsy loved to play dominoes but her true passion was for her family. She was an active member of the Word of Life Church in Sullivan.

Patsy passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Patsy is survived by children; Jackie Dunne (and husband, Pat Sr.) of Bourbon and Charles William Schatz (and wife, Teresa) of Sullivan; a brother, John Sullivan of Idaho; a sister, Verdean Werder of Hawaii; five grandchildren: Patrick Dunne Jr. (and wife, Judy) of Union, MO, Colleen Short (and husband, Kirk) of St. Clair, MO, Randee Schatz of Sullivan, Chuck Schatz (and wife, Devon) of Eureka, MO, and Brad Schatz (and wife, Brittany) of Sullivan; her beloved great-grandchildren: Nick, Patrick III, Liz, Brendan, and Caroline Dunne, Melinda & Brad Bizzle (and his wife, Hannah), Tyler Adams, Barrett, Isabella, Ruthie, Bo, and Elena Schatz; one great-great granddaughter, Avery; a brother-in-law, Darrel Schatz and two sisters-in-law, Peggy Schatz and Gloria Schatz, all of Sullivan and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; and two sisters, Betty Whisenand and Barbara Kinford.

Services for Louise Rice of Sullivan were conducted at 12 Noon, Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial followed at the I.O.O.F Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan. 

Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, Monday, at the funeral home.

Louise Maxine was born April 2, 1922 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Norman and Alice (Collins) Strauser.  Louise was the Broker for Rice Realty in Sullivan for many years. And she was also part owner of KTUI AM Radio for 12 years.

Louise is survived by her children, John Rice (and his wife, Nancy) of Sullivan, Karen Murray (and her husband, Chuck) of Moore, OK, and Pam Walker (and her husband, Dan) of St. Louis; a sister, Kathryn Klauser; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her children, Glen David Rice and Nancy Louise Reiner; a granddaughter, Lisa Milleson; a great-grandson, Aaron Buchanan; and a great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Rielle Buchanan.

Louise passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Hospital of Sullivan Ambassadors.

Services for Charlotte Austin, 94, of Sullivan, were conducted 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Bourbon, MO with Pastor Mary Avizenis officiating. Burial followed at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Charlotte was born July 26, 1922, in Bronx, NY, the daughter of Charles and Susie Bachtler. She graduated high school in 1941 and then met the love of her life, George Weppner. They were married on August 30, 1941 at the St. James Church in Bronx. Together, they moved to the St. Louis area for a time before buying a home and moving to Sleepy Hollow in Sullivan, MO. They were blessed with three children: Ruth, Wayne, and Linda.

After George’s death, Charlotte married Roger Austin and to this union a daughter, Betty Sue was born. She also welcomed another daughter, Carmen whom Roger had from a previous marriage. Charlotte worked as a waitress in many of the local restaurants in the Sullivan area. She worked at By-lo Furniture as a salesperson for many years, she also worked at Bobber Café as a salesclerk and hostess before going to work at Wal-Mart as a door greeter. She worked there until her retirement.

After retirement, she worked part-time as an office clerk at the Sullivan Elementary School until the age of 90, where most of her hours were volunteer. She made her home at the Sullivan Apartments for 20-plus years and then went to Victoria Place in Sullivan. She was living at Meramec Nursing Center at the time of her passing.

Charlotte’s passions were her family, her belief in God and a love for music. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, especially with her daughter, Betty Sue. Charlotte loved to read the Bible and non-fiction books, particularly self help books. She also liked to write poetry. Charlotte gave her heart to the Lord at a very early age. At the time of her passing, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bourbon. She attended Sunday school and church when she was able.

Charlotte will be remembered for her sweet spirit and gentle nature and she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Charlotte is survived by her children: Ruth Nevills of Carthage, MO, Wayne Weppner (and his wife, Betty) of Sullivan, Linda Usery (and her husband, Ed) of Stanton, MO, and Betty Sue Walsh (and her husband, Maple) of Sullivan; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Weppner & Roger Austin; her parents; her sister, Evelyn (and her husband, Wilber); her lifelong friends, Dezi and Ruth Finnegan (New Jersey) and son-in-law, David Nevills.

Charlotte passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan.

Bonnilyn Rae Johnson was born on August 28, 1950, in Eau Claire, WI, to the late Garland and Beverly (Wingad) Johnson-Kraus, and was adopted later in life by Donald Roberts. She grew up in Eau Claire, attended and graduated from Memorial High School class of 1968, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and shareholder. Bonnilyn lived with her family in California for a time before moving to Missouri. She married Len Bond and they later divorced. Bonnilyn was employed by Super 8 Motel and eventually became the manager. Under her leadership, the Cuba Super 8 won many awards and she individually won the Golden Pineapple Hospitality Award in 2001, a very rare international award. Bonnilyn was very involved in the city of Cuba and Crawford County, including serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce and as the Democratic nominee for County Treasurer, a race she lost by only 1 percent of the vote. She was a very caring and giving person and was involved in the Red Cross. Bonnilyn retired from her position at Super 8 because of a work-related injury. After retirement, she spent some time with her sister, Becki, in Wisconsin. Bonnilyn loved her family, her dog, Babey T, and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sports activities and watching daytime soap opera and crime-solving shows. She placed great value and pride in her family.

Bonnilyn is survived by three children; Rick Johnson and wife Crista of St. Louis, MO, Tina Holbrook of Leasburg, MO, and Beverly Siler of St. Paul, Minnesota; eight grandchildren:  Ryan Dunakey, Christopher Davis, Ricky Johnson, Alec Mathews, Cade Johnson, Marten Mathews, Masen Mathews and Ellie Johnson; three great-grandchildren: Christopher II, Charlee and Bentlee; one brother, Gary Johnson of Ohio; two sisters, Rebecca Berg of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Elizabeth (David) Tellock of Omro, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Bonnilyn was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brittany and her beloved dog, Babey T.

Bonnilyn passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Tina, in Leasburg, MO. Her wishes were to be cremated.

Robert L. “Bob” Sego of Washington, MO, formerly of Cuba, was born Monday, February 23, 1931 at Cuba, MO, to the union of Leslie and Virginia (Nee: Meyers) Sego and went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Washington, MO at the age of 85 years.

Bob proudly served in the United States Navy from 14 July 1948 till 19 June 1952. He earned the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the China Service Medal and he served on the U.S.S. Helena.

Bob worked as a welder for Echo Supply in Cuba for several years, then he was an American Family Insurance Agent for six years and then he returned and retired from Echo Supply after many years of dedicated service. Bob was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba.

Bob has been happily married to Lucille Schumer Taylor for the last thirty-six years.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball. In his younger years, he played basketball and he boxed while in the Navy. Bob loved to tell stories about being in the Navy. What Bob truly loved most in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Bob was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, step-father, step-grandfather, step-great-grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, brother-in-law and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Virginia Sego; one son Peter Sego; two step-daughters Iris Shane and Elaine Sexton; one step-son Bradley Taylor; one brother William Sego; and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife Lucille Sego of Washington; one daughter Christina Sego of Sullivan; step-daughter Gail and husband Robert “Bob” Engemann of Washington, MO; special grandson PFC Jordan Sego (who is currently stationed in Arizona) and Zak Sego of Leasburg; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one brother Pete and wife Marie Sego of Cuba; step-son-in-law Jim Shane of Cuba; like a step daughter-in-law Lisa Cunningham of Cuba; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 9:30 till 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W. School Street, Cuba.

A Celebration of Mass was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W. School Street, Cuba, with Father Rich Boever as officiant.

Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, MO.

Doris E. Rohrer, of Cuba, MO, was born to the union of Oliver and Ruth (Tayloe) Downes on March 27, 1921 in Bourbon, MO, and left from this life on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at The Arbors at Victorian Place in Cuba, MO, at the age of 95 years.

On June 17, 1945, Doris married Quentin Rohrer at Owensville, Missouri. There were three children born to this union, V. Kenneth, Elizabeth Ruth and Jahn D. (J.D.). Doris and Quentin celebrated 56 years together on June 17, 2001.

Doris earned her Bachelor degree in Education from Washington University in St. Louis. She retired from the Crawford County R-1 School District, after many years of teaching the students at the Bourbon Elementary School. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon. She enjoyed going to the Cuba Senior Center, playing cards, reading and gardening.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Ruth (Tayloe) Downes; husband Quentin S. Rohrer; one brother Ervin and wife, Effie Downes; one sister Marie and husband, Normal “Turk” Gibson.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her three children Kenneth Rohrer of Farmington, Missouri, Elizabeth and husband, Robert Irvine of Valrico, Florida, J.D. and wife, Cynthia Rohrer of Cuba, Missouri; six grandchildren Matthew and wife, Kristin Rohrer of Springfield, Missouri, Dr. Ann Rohrer and husband, Dr. Jason Woods of Montgomery, Ohio, Dr. Samuel R. and wife, Alicia Rohrer of Cummings, Georgia, Jana and husband Jason Graffi of Springfield, Missouri, Tyler and wife Joanne Field of Naples, Florida, Erin and husband Scott Knipp of Valrico, Florida; eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Funeral service were held on Monday, December 19, 2016 11 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Avizenis, officiating.

Interment will follow at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.

Bro. Jimmie Lee Jorden, of Villa Ridge, MO, departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on December 17, 2016, having reached the age of eighty-one years, five months and twenty-two days.

Bro. Jorden was born in Grandin, MO, on June 25, 1935, son of Abel Smith Jorden and Thelma Lulu Jorden nee Rodgers. On April 19, 1958, he was united in marriage to Eunice Faye Hayes and six children came to bless this union. This past April Bro. Jorden and Eunice celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage.

Bro. Jorden is survived by his wife, Eunice Jorden of Villa Ridge, MO; by one son, Jimmie Daryl Jorden, known to all as Daryl, and wife, Betty, of Bourbon, MO; by four daughters, Peggy Miller and husband, Raymon, of Dittmer, MO, Patricia Click and husband, Leonard, of St. Clair, MO, Joyce Hayes of Hartville, MO and Jeanene Jorden of Villa Ridge; by five grandchildren, Renee Keen and husband, Paul, of New Haven, MO, Bruce Miller of St. Louis, MO, Andrew Hayes of Springfield, MO, Michelle DeLong and husband, Bryon, of Hazelwood, MO, and Leonard Click II and fiancée, Amber Tharp, of St. Clair, MO; by two great-grandsons, Aydan Keen and Tytus DeLong; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Bro. Jorden was preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Thelma Jorden; by one son, Timothy E. Jorden; by his brother, Ronald E. Jorden, and by his son-in-law, Tom Hayes.

Bro. Jorden was pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church in St. Clair, MO, for twenty-seven years, beginning in 1975 and retiring in 2002. He faithfully served his congregation and knew many people in the area. He was a member and retiree of the United Pentecostal Church International, where he was a Missouri District Board Member for 10 years, and was currently a member of Apostolic Life Pentecostal Church in Washington, MO. He also participated in the Senior Life Church in Hillsboro, MO. Bro. Jorden loved reading his bible and sharing the gospel. His greatest joy was showing someone their way to the Lord. Bro. Jorden was a talented musician and he loved playing his acoustic guitar.  He often spent time at the Westgate music store in Sullivan, MO. He passed his love of music on to his children and they often sang together. Bro. Jorden had a very loving and forgiving nature and he knew no stranger. He had a special place in his heart for his family and the love they shared and many precious memories they created will never be forgotten.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Daniel E. Keck Jr. and the Rev. Rudy Theissen officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park near St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the family.

Services for Birdie May Whitworth Eldridge, age 91, of Sullivan, were held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Harold Harrison and Pastor Derik Ruble officiating. Interment to follow in Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, MO.

Visitation was from 4:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Birdie May Whitworth was born on September 23, 1925 to the late James L. and Clara M. (Sohn) Whitworth at St. Clair, MO. She was united in marriage to James L. Eldridge on April 18, 1947 and they were blessed with six children; Brenda, Annie, Sher, Peggy, James “Bo” and Paul. Birdie was a homemaker, and she enjoyed raising and caring for her large family. After her husband James passed away in 1967, Birdie moved her children back to Sullivan to be with her family. In 1980, she moved to the Sullivan senior apartments where she loved tending her rose bushes. She also won the best Christmas decorated yard several times, which she was very proud of. Birdie was described as a very classy lady. She loved to sing and dance with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. She also enjoyed playing games including; Yahtzee, Aggravation, Canasta, Ones and Fives and building houses of cards with the grandkids. Birdie was a Christian and she enjoyed reading her Bible. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Bourbon, MO. She will be missed by her large family and many friends.

She is survived by her children; Annie Boyer of Bourbon, Sher Hardy of Sullivan and Peggy Love and husband, Charlie, of Sullivan, Paul Eldridge of Sullivan, daughter-in-law; Laurie Eldridge of Gibson, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; Kendra (Jeremy) Todd, Tara (Mike) Wilson, James  Eldridge, Syndie (Callen) Calloway, Scarlett (David) Windle, James (Laurie) Boyer, Phillina (Nathan) Jarvis, Michael Hardy, C. J. (Jennifer) Love and Dustin (Jennifer) Love;  20 great-grandchildren; Zoe Hardy, Kassidy (Aaron) Shelton, Brendan Shelton, Elissa, Katie, Pierce, Liam, Ty, Kody and Destiny Love, David Windle II, Anna Windle, Justyce (Jacob) Jarvis, Nathan Jarvis, Jr., Nevaeh, Cainan and Charis Calloway, Ambriel and Jennessa Wilson and Addison Todd;  four great-great-grandchildren; Eli Meister, David Windle III, Mia Torres and Dale May Windle; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Birdie passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan surrounded by her family.

Carl Ernest Hardecke, Jr., age 96, of Strafford passed away peacefully Friday, December 9, 2016 in Springfield, MO.

Carl was born August 26, 1920 in Sullivan, MO to Carl Ernest, Sr. and Bertha Wilhemina Hardecke (nee Brueseke). He was a graduate of Sullivan High School. Carl served in the United States Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Maxine Louise Bartlett on April 27, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA. He worked for DeWitt Assoc., as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1984. His true passion was farming, he enjoyed working with his cattle.

Survivors include his five children, Carlene Gaddy and husband, Brian of Broken Arrow, OK, Merle Hardecke and wife, Mandy, Strafford, Donna Rost and husband, Anthony, Strafford, Darrell Hardecke and Kimberly Summers, Springfield, Bart Hardecke and wife, Carol, Springfield; six grandchildren, Benjamin Gaddy and wife, Jennifer, Daniel Gaddy, Nick Hardecke, Keith Hardecke, Amy Rost, and Darren Hardecke; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maxine Hardecke; his parents, Carl Sr. and Bertha Hardecke; three brothers, Warren Hardecke, Tracy Hardecke, and Alvin Hardecke.

Charles (Charlie) A. Hedberg, 83, of Centralia died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, Columbia. He was born April 20, 1933, in Monroe City, the son of Otis Guy and Ellen Hedberg. Charles was a graduate of Monroe City High School. He served in the U.S. Army, and after military service he married his high school sweetheart, Janann Roland of Rensselaer, on Dec. 12, 1954. He later enrolled in linotype school at the University of Missouri, Columbia, through the G.I. Bill. 

This educational experience became the start of nearly a half-century of his career in the printing and publishing business. Over several years, Charles was a typesetter for Western Printing in Hannibal, Hannibal Courier-Post, Monroe City News, Von Hoffman Press in Jefferson City and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. After gaining experience in the field, Charles, along with Janann, bought the Monroe City News. After about eight years, they decided to sell the newspaper and they moved to Sedalia where he worked in sales for two years.

In 1973, the Hedbergs purchased the Guard Printing & Publishing Company (Centralia Fireside Guard) and, eventually, bought the Sturgeon and Hallsville newspapers. The Guard, during their 34 years of ownership, received 86 Missouri Press Association awards and was named the best weekly newspaper in the state of Missouri in 1982. Charles was president of the Missouri Press Association in 1987. Through the years, he was involved with numerous organizations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Centralia.

Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Janann; one son, Jeff (Dawn) Hedberg of Camdenton; one daughter, Jan (Keith) Schneider of St. Charles; six grandchildren:  Rachael (Tom) Marler of Columbia; Greg (Hilary) Hedberg of Thompson; Jamie Schneider of St. Charles; Suzanne (Ray) Finlay of Elizabeth City, NC; Joseph (Abbey) Schneider and Jacob Schneider of St. Charles; four great-grandchildren:  Gradon, Annalee and Graham Hedberg of Thompson and Lila Rae Finlay of Elizabeth City, NC; and one sister, Dorothy Haeffner of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold Hedberg and Otis Gene Hedberg; and two sisters, Catherine Cain and Hulda Powers.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 22, 9-11 a.m. and the memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. The visitation and memorial service will be at the First Baptist Church, 101 South Collier Street, Centralia. Interment will be at Olivet Cemetery, Center.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Centralia. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garner Funeral Home & Chapel, Monroe City. 

Services for Cardeen Beyreis age 82 of Sullivan were conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Cardeen was a loving, caring person who gave of herself to many. She loved Jesus as her Savior and loved her family.  She was lovingly referred to as “Honey” by many as well.

Cardeen is survived by her son, James (Diane) Beyreis III of Union, MO; one daughter, Debra (Timothy) O’Leary of Stafford, VA; four grandchildren, Angie (Joshua) Fulton, Jessica Agar, Tonya (Darren) Hadro and Erin Hollandsworth; nine great-grandchildren; Alan Agar, Tyler White, Alexa Agar, Brayden White, William Lunte, Delilah Lunte, Addison Hadro, Jacob Fulton and Eleanor Hadro; an honorary daughter, Christine Neff (and her husband, Jason); and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cardeen was preceded in death by her parents; Roy W. and Dolly M. (Brummett) Cox; husband; James W. Beyreis; 14 siblings; Frieda Stahlman, Jesse, Leslie, Melburn, Robert, Elmer, Junior, Wilbur, Mary, Cassandra and Barbara Cox, Ruth Ann Fryer, Carolyn Schmidt and Donald Cox; and an honorary daughter, Sherry Schmidt Bladdick.

Cardeen passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter, Angie in Potosi.

Fern Beatrice Timmermann, 86, of Pittsburg, MO, formerly of Sullivan, MO, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, on December 18, 2016, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services was held 11 a.m. at Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO on Friday, December 23, 2016.  Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday evening. Burial will be at Reedville Cemetery following the service.

Fern was born on February 16, 1930 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Herbert and Bertha Powell who preceded her in death. She was married on August 6, 1948 to James Reed Timmermann who preceded her in death.

Fern enjoyed singing in the choir at church, crocheting and quilting, playing cards and watching old westerns on TV.

Survivors include seven children, John Timmermann (Pam) of Harrisburg, MO, Nancy Peregoy (Ed) of Lebanon, MO, Marilyn Pettitt (John) of Elkland, MO, Martin Timmermann of Sullivan, MO, Sue Dittmar (Steve) of Swansee, SC, Debbie Rothrock (Pete) of Pittsburg, MO and Richard Timmermann (Lynne) of Sullivan, MO; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by one sister, Juanita Villani, and one brother, Paul Powell. Two brothers, Lloyd Powell and James Powell preceded her in death.

Fern was a member of Reedville Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan.

The past year, she lived with her youngest daughter, Debbie Rothrock in Pittsburg, MO.

Donations may be made in Fern’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 5262 Danny Thomas Pl. Memphis, TN 38105. She was fond of St. Jude’s because of their life saving care for one of her grandchildren.

Services for Brenda J. (Umfleet) Roberts, age 76 of Bourbon, MO, were conducted 7 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Mr. Tommy Wigger officiating.

Visitation for Brenda was from 4-7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.

Brenda Joyce Umfleet was born on September 12, 1940 in Fredricktown, MO to Clyde and Geneva (Strickland) Umfleet. She grew up and attended school in Fredricktown. As a young woman, she moved to Sullivan where she worked various jobs in the area while raising her family. Brenda enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was passionate about raising and showing Jack Russell Terriers. She loved the holidays and was described as a feisty, hardheaded lady.

Brenda is survived by her husband Emerson Roberts of Bourbon; seven children: Harold (Skip) Massey of Joplin, Brad (Lisa) Massey of Leasburg, Lisa (Dave) Almany of St. Louis,  Tina (Pat) Cantwell of Corinth, TX, Suzy (Dan) Presley of Sullivan, Beth Fleming of Pacific and Theresa McCulloch of O’Fallon; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephew, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Clyde and Geneva (Strickland) Umfleet.

Brenda passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at Life Care Center in Sullivan.

Services for Dallas E. Christian Jr. were conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at First Assembly of God Church, Sullivan, MO, with Pastor Kyle Phillips officiating. Cremation took place following the service.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday at Sullivan First Assembly of God.

Dallas passed away early Friday, December 23, 2016 at his home due to natural causes.

Dallas Eugene Christian, Jr. was born on December 30, 1948 to the late Dallas E. Christian, Sr. and Evelyn M. Osborne in Stockton, CA. Dallas joined the Air Force after high school and served in Vietnam. He remained in the Military for twenty years retiring as a Master Sergeant. Dallas married Gail Marie Garland, Dec. 13, 1969. They had just celebrated 47 years of marriage. Three sons were born to the couple.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; four sons: Dallas Christian III (and his wife, Sheri) of St. James, MO, Charles Christian (and his wife, Tanya) of Rancho Cordova, CA; Frederic Christian (and his wife, Jamie) of Tulsa, OK and Calvin Dreasler of Warrensburg, MO; his mother, Evelyn Christian of Gardnerville, NV; his stepmother, Barbara Christian of Wilton, CA; a brother, Gary Christian (and his wife, Brenda); a sister, Evelyn Lancaster of Gardnerville, NV; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Arrangements are under the care of Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan and Bourbon.

Margaret Alberta Hyatt of Sullivan, MO, departed this life in Sullivan on December 19, 2016, having reached the age of ninety-three years, one month and nineteen days. Margaret was born in Joppa, AL, on October 30, 1923, daughter of Albert Henry Densmore and Essie Densmore nee Boyd. On September 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Warren Thanual Hyatt and five children came to bless this union.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Jerry Hyatt of St. Louis, MO and Darrell Hyatt and wife, Jeannie, of St. Peters, MO; by her daughters, Shirley Davis Marsh and husband, David, of Robertsville, MO, Phyllis Talir and husband, Jim, of Bourbon, MO, and Brenda Hyatt of St. Peters, MO; by her sisters, Ermadine Ralph and JoAnne Young, both of Arab, AL; by seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Essie Densmore; by her husband, Warren Hyatt; by two brothers, James Densmore and Donald Densmore, and by one grandchild, Tim Talir.

Margaret was a Christian of the Southern Baptist faith and member of Friendship Baptist Church in Arab, AL. During her working career, she was employed by New Era Shirt Company in St. Louis, MO. She later went to work as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney’s in Northwest Plaza in St. Louis, MO. She remained with the company until she retired after twenty-five years of service. Margaret was an avid reader throughout her life. She had lived a very active life and had many hobbies and interests. She was a talented seamstress and made most of  her children’s clothing when they were young. Making pieced quilts was her passion and her family now have several which have become family heirlooms. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning her produce. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart just as she did in their hearts.

Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Jamie Haguewood officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date at Mt. Oak Cemetery in Ruth, AL.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Hazel Susan Williams Miller of Sullivan, MO, departed this life in Sullivan on December 30, 2016, having reached the age of ninety-four years, three months and seventeen days. Hazel was born in Bourbon, MO, on September 13, 1922, daughter of Charles Evert Cahill and Bertha May Cahill nee Bacon. On September 16, 1939, she was united in marriage to William Leroy Williams, known to all as Leroy, and four sons came to bless this union. In 1984, she was united in marriage to Charles Miller and they were blessed to have about eight years together.

Hazel is survived by three sons, Artie Williams and wife, Pat, of Winston Salem, NC, Richard Williams and wife, Norma, of Vidalia, GA, and Fred Williams and wife, Tammy, of Hopkins, MN; by three step-children, Roy Miller and wife, Cheryl, of Troy, IL, Christena York and husband, Tim, of Galveston, TX, and Butch Miller and wife, Debbie, of Bourbon, MO; by seventeen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Cahill; by her husbands, Leroy Williams and Charles Miller; by one infant son, William L. Williams, Jr.; by her brothers, Steve Cahill, Arthur Cahill and Walter Cahill, and by three sisters, Mamie Nappier, Helen Jones and Elsie Cox.

Hazel was a Christian of the Baptist faith, believing in the Lord as her Savior. She had various jobs during her working years, having worked as a clerk and nurses’ assistant. She had worked at Sunset Nursing Home in Union, MO, for about ten years. Hazel loved people and while living in the St. Clair area, had been a member of the St. Clair Elk’s Lodge 2651. After moving to Sullivan, MO, she was active in the Sullivan Eagle’s Lodge. She also enjoyed going to the  Sullivan Senior Center, where she enjoyed fellowshipping and playing cards with her friends. One of Hazel’s favorite pastimes during her younger years was dancing and she was a very talented dancer. She could tap dance and often entertained her family by clogging. In more recent years, Hazel enjoyed crocheting and quilting and loved going to play Bingo. Nothing made her happier than the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and many wonderful memories have been created.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St.  Clair, MO, with the Rev. Jim Watson officiating. Interment was in Green Mound Cemetery, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the Green Mound Cemetery.

June Lorraine Heitzler, age 89, of Bourbon, passed away on December 24, 2016, in Washington, MO. June, daughter of the late Charles McDaniel and Frances Orlando, nee Christopher, was born June 29, 1927 in Sullivan, MO.

On June 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to the late Gerard (Art) Heitzler and to this union five sons were born. June was a devoted wife and homemaker that loved her family and friends. She was a kind and generous woman to everyone she met and always had a smile on her face. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by three sons, Mark of St. Clair, MO; Geoff and wife Maria of Sullivan, MO; Timothy of Bourbon, MO; daughter-in-law Rita Murray-Heitzler of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Judy Weekley; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives, and many friends.

Along with her parents and husband, June preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Gregory.

It was June’s wish to be cremated.

Cole Robert Jones, of Dixon, was born July 18, 1983, in Sullivan, only son of Robert Edward and Charlotte Mae (Stratman) Jones, and departed this life Friday afternoon, December 30, 2016, near Lebanon, from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. Cole was 33 years old.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norman and Alice Jones; maternal grandparents, Henry and Opal Stratman; and two cousins, Angela (Stratman) Foster and Shawn Amos.

Cole was a 2002 graduate of Sullivan High School and also a graduate of Linn State Technical College.  Cole was a heavy equipment operator and worked on oil rigs.  Cole’s hobbies included fishing, hunting and camping. He was also a certified scuba diver. Cole was a member of the Wingmen Motorcycle Club and loved to travel.

Those left to mourn the passing of Cole include: His parents, Robert (Bob) and Charlotte Jones, Dixon; one sister, Jessica (Jones) and her husband, Wallace Norris, Overland Park, KS; nephew, Ethan Norris; niece, Sophia Norris; girlfriend, Angie Cuff, Springfield; uncles and aunts, Stanley and Joyce Stratman, St. Ann; and Connie and Ed Amos, St. Charles; cousins, Jeremy Amos, Travis Amos and Melissa (Stratman) Brand; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Cole will be from 1-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the Fairview Cemetery, Frankford, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Norris, Ethan Norris, Jeremy Amos, Travis Amos, Jason Goodman and Jason Richardson.
