Olive Rae Collins, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the age of 86 years.
Olive was born on April 13, 1928 in St. Clair, Missouri to the late Steven and Belle (Brown) Taylor. Olive was raised in the St. Clair area. She was first married to Amos James Burton who preceded her in death. Several years later, she was married to Lawrence Collins and he too, preceded her in death. Olive was employed for a time at the former DEB Shoe Company in St. Clair and later at Von Wiese Gear Company as an assembly line worker. Olive enjoyed refinishing furniture and delighted in going to yard sales. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
She is survived by one son, Dennis Burton and wife Brenda of Union, MO; two daughters, Carol Burton of Independence, MO and Debra Mun of Sullivan, MO; one brother, Kenneth Taylor and wife Mary of St. Clair, MO; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Olive was also preceded in death by a son, Dean Collins, three brothers, Steven, Jr., Harold and William Taylor eight sisters, Lenora Taylor in infancy, Rose Sutterfield, Ann Miller, Delma Taylor, Beulah Hawkins, Marie Miller, Sylvia Duncan and Myrna Gudermuth.
Memorial funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Sat., Feb. 7, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Fern Nye officiating. A gathering of family and friends was held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
