Stephen Martin Moeckel, of Sullivan, MO, husband of Susan (Bacon) Moeckel and son of the late Edward and Cleo (Martin) Moeckel passed away at Mercy Hospital at Washington, MO on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the age of 56 years.
Steve, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Washington, MO on September 18, 1958. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and was a graduate of Sullivan High School, Class of 1977. He had been faithfully employed by Peterson Oil Company in Sullivan for 35 plus years. Steve also enjoyed farming and collecting farm implements and tractors. He would enter many tractor pulling contests and in the winter, when it snowed, he would pull the kids and family on an old truck hood, hours on end, all around the farm. Steve was fond of deer hunting and four-wheeling, but his true love was his family. He was baptized early in life at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife Susan of the family home; two sons, Stephen Moeckel and girlfriend, Ashley Garcia, of Sullivan, Samuel Moeckel of Sullivan; two daughters, Cheryn Moeckel and boyfriend, Matt Tyree, of Sullivan and Brittany Moeckel and fiancée, Brandon Mazzola, of Sullivan; two grandchildren, Kaylyn Tyree and Caleb Mazzola; father-in-law and step-mother-in-law Raymond and Linda Bacon of Sullivan; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Delphia Bacon.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Joe Smith officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Friday evening, January 16, 2015 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
