Roger Parker

Roger Harold Parker of Sullivan, MO, husband of Norma Jean (Hill) Parker and son of the late Claude and Violet (Mercer) Parker, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the age of 67 years, 11 months and four days.
Roger was born at Sullivan, MO on February 10, 1947. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan and Bourbon areas and attended Bourbon High School. On November 11, 1967, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Hill at Bourbon, MO and to this marriage three children were born, of which a son, Stacy Eugene preceded him in death. Roger honorably served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany.  Upon his return home after his discharge, Roger was employed at the former Ramsey Corporation in Sullivan as a machinist. He later was self-employed many years as contractor and then afterwards became employed with McBride and Sons Contractors in St. Louis. Roger enjoyed playing golf and deer hunting.  He was also a member of the Crawford County Coon Hunters Association and in his younger years enjoyed bowling. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Bourbon, MO.
He is survived by his wife Norma of the family home; one son, James Allen Parker of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Melissa Tucker and husband, Larry, of Fenton, MO; five brothers, John Parker and wife, Darlene, of Washington, MO, Dean Parker and wife, Betty, of Sullivan, MO, Dewayne Parker and wife, Pam, of Salem, MO, Clifford Parker and wife, Waynetta, of Salem, MO, and Edward Parker and wife Sarah of Joplin, MO; two sisters, Brenda Hughes of Salem, MO, and Linda Bobmeyer and husband, Rich, of House Springs, MO; four grandchildren, Larry, Jr., Shelly, Renee and Connor; six great-grandchildren, Craig, Jr., Madelyn, Brendan, Brayton, Savana and Dylan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Huff, Margaret and Kenny Summers, Delores Hill, Dale and Linda Jones, Barbara and Wayne Ware, Joyce and Raymond Tucker; a host of nieces and nephews; honorary “Grandpa” to many;  other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a son, Stacy Eugene Parker; one brother, Jimmie Parker; parents-in-law, Clinton and Claudine Hill; brothers-in-law, Jim Hughes and Bob Hill; a sister-in-law, Vickie Parker; two nieces, Crystal and Tammy Parker; and one nephew, Doug Parker.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2014 at the First Assembly of God of Bourbon with Pastor Derick Ruble officiating. Cremation followed the services. Visitation was held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the First Assembly of God in Bourbon.
In lieu of flowers, it was the desire of Roger’s that expressions of sympathy be made to the Children’s Ministry of First Assembly of God, Bourbon, MO.  Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
