Billy Joe Payne, formally of Sullivan, MO, passed away in St. Louis, MO, Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the age of 84 years old.
Billy was born on September 30, 1932 in Bourbon, MO, to Edgar O. and Margaret (nee Wilson) Payne, one of three boys. He honorably served his country in the US Army and married Minnie Louise Jost on December 11, 1954. To this union they had six children.
After returning from the service, he worked at International Shoe Factory in Sullivan, MO, until he moved to St. Louis to accept a job in the heating and cooling business for Superior Heating and Cooling. After spending many years there, he left to work for his son at Midway Heating and Cooling until his retirement.
Billy’s passion was spending time with his family. He loved sitting around with them listening to country and western music-live or on TV.
Billy is survived by his children Billy (Linda) Jost, Joann (Phil) Stolze, Larry Payne, Danny (Cheri) Payne, Ron Payne, and Donna (Dean) Grus; one brother James Payne; 11 grandchildren, Jessie Nolhng, Justin Jost, Brian Payne, Mandy Rehmer, Eric Stolze, Lindsay Payne, John Jost, Kayla Gregory, James Grus, Kelly Payne and Heidi Payne; along with many great-grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Minnie Louise Payne and a brother Woodrow Payne.
Billy’s wishes were to be cremated. He will rest in peace at Boone Creek Cemetery Bourbon, MO.
