Ruth Marie Cartwright, of Rolla, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving and devoted husband on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the age of 83.
She was born in Cuba, MO, on April 6, 1933 to the late Ralph Kitchen and Elsie (Licklider) Kitchen.
Ruth is survived by her husband Norman Cartwright. The two were united in marriage in Corinth, MS on June 24, 1953 and were blessed with 63 years of marriage together.
Ruth worked for 3 years as a school teacher at the Dent-Phelps R-3 School. Her primary work consisted of serving in ministry as a pastor’s wife for 63 years and being a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the accordion, piano and organ. Other interests included growing beautiful roses, traveling and gospel music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cindy Cartwright and one brother, Edwin Kitchen.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes her husband, Norman Cartwright, of their home in rural Rolla; four children, Daniel Cartwright and wife Judy, of Anutt, MO, Dwayne Cartwright and wife Julie, of Moncks Comer, S.C., Lorena Case and husband Dennis, of Lecoma, MO, and Darla Seelke and husband Robert, of Rolla; two brothers, Floyd Kitchen and wife Wilma, of Leasburg, MO and Marvin Kitchen and wife Dee, of St. Charles, MO; one sister, Charlene Kauffman and husband Tony, of St. Louis, MO; eleven grandchildren, Sean Cartwright, Angela Arthur, Joe Cartwright, Josh Cartwright, Jon Cartwright, Jenna Weldon, Jeff Case, Emily Case, Hannah Mason, Kendra Satterly, and Ryan Seelke; twenty-seven great grandchildren; other extended family members and many dear friends.
A service celebrating and honoring the life of Ruth Cartwright was held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 at the First Assembly of God in Rolla. Interment to follow in the Anutt Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends was held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly, 17th and Oak Street, Rolla.
