judy kennedy obit colorJudy Evelyn Kennedy, age 64, surrounded by her dearest friends and family, lost a very quick battle to cancer on Tuesday, January 17.

Judy was born in Saint Louis to Albert and Lilli (Simon) Prelutsky on March 9, 1952, and married her spouse, Thomas Kennedy, on May 1, 1983. She is survived by her mother Lilli; sister Eileen, husband Tom, daughter Cary and son-in-law Patrick; son Marc and daughter-in-law Alicia; son Geoff and grandson Tommy.

She attended Ladue Horton Watkins High School and graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in Nursing. Shortly thereafter, she began a 40-year career as a Registered Nurse in the ER at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

From her birth until her passing on Tuesday, Judy nurtured everyone she interacted with love, compassion, care and humor that entailed a very unique and special “Judy style.”

She was the most incredible mother to Cary, Marc and Geoff-very involved in their development and especially proud of each of them. As a grandmother, she absolutely adored spending time with-and caring for-her grandson Tommy. As a wife, she was magnificent. Judy and Tom became best friends very early in their relationship, and the bond they shared fostered the happiest years of their lives. As a daughter and sister, Judy was fantastic. She always put their wishes first and was relentless in providing them support. As a pediatric nurse, she earned herself the reputation as one of “Children’s finest” due to the breadth of her knowledge, experience, and perpetual mentorship among her coworkers. As a friend and companion, she was one-of-a-kind. Everyone we know did not merely like Judy, they adored her. Indeed, in all aspects of her life, Judy was fantastic.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. The location will be the Central Reform Congregation at 5020 Waterman Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108.

Condolences may be shared with the family at www.eatonfuneralhome.com.

Arrangements under the care of Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
