Velma L. Frutko of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the age of 87 years.
Velma was born on November 23, 1928 at Bourbon, Missouri to the late Julius and Anna Ethel (Pennock) Jenkerson. At the age of 14 she left home and went to work in St. Louis. She had later moved to Park Forrest, Illinois with her family and had been employed in several places in Illinois. On November 10, 1959 she was united in marriage to Mitchell Frutko and to this marriage one daughter was born. After the death of her husband in October of 1991, Velma moved back to the Bourbon area. She enjoyed socializing and enjoyed people. She was particularly fond of dancing and participating in activities at the Cuba Senior Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Herold and husband Michael of Bourbon, Missouri; three grandchildren, David Turner, Matthew Herold and Michelle Hart; other relatives and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Velma was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Luther, Elzie and Julius Robert (Jr.) Jenkerson and one sister Leona Montgomery.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with cremation following the service. Visitation for Mrs. Velma Frutko was held Saturday from 12:30 until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
