Raymond Joseph Hasting of Sullivan, MO, formerly St. Clair, MO, departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on May 25, 2015, having reached the age of eighty-six years, five months and twenty-two days. Raymond was born in St. Louis, MO, on December 3, 1928, son of Joseph Delbert Hasting, known to all as Jack, and Lucille Rose Hasting nee Peckron. As a young man he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Hill and two children came to bless this union. On May 26, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mariann B. Steffens and two children came to bless this union. On September 16, 1995, he was united in marriage to Rose A. Roussin nee Travis and they were blessed to have twenty years together.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Rose Hasting of Sullivan, MO; by his son, Jeffrey Hasting and wife, Jennifer, of Washington, MO; by three daughters, Linda Drummond of St. Peters, MO, Diane Rose and husband, David, of O’Fallon, MO and Jennifer B. Hasting of Washington; by three step-children, Christine Roussin of Lonedell, MO, Susan Ryan of Sullivan and Daniel Roussin of Lonedell; by one brother, Donald Hasting and wife, Susan, of St. Louis, MO; by two sisters, Joann Jackson and husband, Robert, of St. Louis and Jean Jones of St. Louis; by sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lucille Hasting; by his wife, Anna Mae Hasting, by his wife, Mariann B. Hasting; and by one step-son, Jeffery Roussin.
Raymond was a Christian, having been raised in the Catholic faith. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, entering on May 3, 1946 and receiving his honorable discharge on February 16, 1948. During his working career he was the owner and operator of Hasting Construction, doing mainly residential construction and remodeling. He was an active, outgoing man with many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed watching his children play sports when they were growing up and was their best fan. He was a talented craftsman when it came to woodworking and continued his talents as a hobby after he retired. He enjoyed fishing, especially when his family went with him. After his retirement, he and Rose were passionate about square dancing and traveled throughout the State to dance and instruct. Camper traveling was another favorite pastime. What meant most to him was time spent with his family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will never be forgotten.
A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, step-father, grandfather, great and great-great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation. The family of Raymond Hasting entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
