Lois L. Nees

Lois L. Nees, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan age of 98 years.
Lois was born on April 30, 1917 in St. Louis, MO to the late William and Janie (York) Scherb and was raised in Fisk, MO. After graduation, from high school, she entered nurses training and became an LPN. On September 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Charles A. Barth in University City, MO and to this union three children were born. The couple made their home in St. Louis, MO until 1955, when they moved to Sullivan, MO. Lois worked as a nurse for Dr. Ronald Scott for a number of years, and later, was one of the first nurses to work at the former Sullivan Community Hospital. She was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Sullivan and Sullivan Business and Professional Women. Lois enjoyed gardening, traveling and playing cards.
She is survived by three children, Charles Barth and wife, Bonnie, Bill Barth and wife, Faye, and Janet Marsh and husband, Robert, all of Sullivan; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Barth in 1957, Frank Highley in 1973 and Charles Nees in 1986.
Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Rev. Fr. Paul Telken officiating. Interment was in Saint Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
